Ok, I have a LG G5 H830 (T-mobile) phomne that I built as unlocked from components (case, display motherboard and chin module). I used an H830 motherboard because they can be consistently have the bootblock lock removed. The motherboard was originally unlocked and I did verify that to be true with a foreign sim. After removing the bootblock lock (I like my phones rooted) the network lock came back. Worse, T-Mobile's unlocking app will only work if your phone was at one time using their network. I am in Canada and there is no T-Mobile network here. That sucjs monkey turds, but I can get it unlocked thru CellUnlocker (for a cost).
My question is this: I know of the manual unlocks where you manually enter a code will hard lock your phone after about 10 unsuccessful attempts. As T-Mobile uses an OTA remote unlocking app, does it have the same limits as a manual unlocking scheme?
Would appreciate any experiences you guys had with their OTA network unlocker.
