I've had mine for a week now. Australia 2018 Mazda 3. It boots up super fast I usually have Waze and Spotify going. Seem so have a weird bug where geographically on my way to work it disconnects twice in the same part of the fwy going to work and one spot going home from work, Same path to and from work.
For me, exactly the same situation as you describe. I am also looking for a solution to the problem. Aluminum foil doesn't help. If you find a way to fix the problem, please let me know.

So I am having a issue now with my AAWireless. I have a Gen1 ( AAWireless-z6L9biOU ) unit I am pretty sure on version 1.7.1 firmware. Up until today I have had zero issues. What happened today was is the firmware in my 2016 Mazda CX-9 was updated to the latest version of firmware NA_74.00.230A. Previously the Mazda firmware was NA_70.00.21 I believe. Now that this update is installed Android Auto only works with a cable connection. When I have my AAWireless device connected my phone connects to it but Android auto never comes on on the cars screen. I have tried resetting the AAwireless device, removing / reinstalling the app on my phone and going through setup and factory resetting my cars head unit with nothing working. It seems like the AAWireless device is working as far as my phone seeing it and my phone telling me to select Android Auto on my cars screen but the option to do that never shows on the head unit. Does anyone have any advice that can share? I don't think it is possible to downgrade the cars firmware back to the previous version. If anyone knows that this is possible or not please let me know. I tried sending a bug report but the app just stalls on downloading log files and never completes.

Wouldn't recommend downgrading your device (requires @Snirpo or another aawireless dev to do this) because then like me, you'll be stuck on firmware 1.5 with no explanation why someone people are on 1.7.1 and others are stuck on 1.5 and no option to update. I'm also a first gen aawireless AAWireless-eSs19MUQ

Explanation: some batch 4 devices have been flashed with batch 3 firmware, and at this point we have no way to differentiate them from the backend automatically. So batch 1, 2 and 4 are save to update, batch 3 not, because it could also very well be an batch 4 device. It's causing havoc cause the backend is not really set up for this situation. For now we are only doing manual updates for batch 3 devices.

I appreciate the explanation. I was running 1.7.1 previously but I checked my device for an OTA and it said a new update was there for 1.5 which I installed thinking there must have been issues with 1.7.1 - just wondering if I would be better off on the newer version since it was previously installed?

Hello,

AA cable to phone > receive call Android auto works
AA wirless > receive call Android auto stops working and call is down

Did repair of BT etc, still same issue.

All works good with cable>phone

But AA wirless box> cable disconnects during call.

All worked before, but now it is broken. Didn't change anything in settings.
Mi 11 Ultra and AA wirless and Skoda 2017 Head unit.

Please help, otherwise it is useless if I can't make or pick-up calls

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue with Xiaomi Poco F3 (MIUI 12.5.6) and Seat Leon 5F 2019 Model.
When receiving or making a call android auto immediately disconnects.

With USB cable it works as expected.

I have contacted aaWireless support, but haven't received any useful response on this.
At this state, AA wireless is unusable for me.

Yeah sorry, we reverted to 1.5 as default until a few weeks ago, where we just disabled updates completely.

This is a known Xiaomi issue unfortunately, not related to AAWireless. We are aware of it. Could've been an Android OS update, Android Auto update, we don't know yet.

I figured out why I was having problems. Samsung S20 Note phone / Ram 1500 truck. My phone apparently only connects to two particular bluetooth devices at a time. Normally, it's connected to my smartwatch and the Uconnect of the Ram. As a result, it wouldn't connect to AA Wireless. Just as a test of my theory, in my phone's bluetooth settings I forgot/unpaired my Uconnect. Next time I got in my truck, everything worked perfectly.

Now to note is that after AA Wireless connects (I believe signaled connect via bluetooth, then drops bluetooth and connects solely through wifi), my phone will then connect to my Uconnect.

I'm still working out how to manage this setup...

Try to disable calls for your smart watch in the phone Bluetooth settings or open the developer settings and scroll down to Bluetooth settings and check the number of devices connected simultaneously.

I don't see it...

Thnx. I don't see it. Must not be in Android 11...
(Only for sharing/helping as I do not have trouble) In Dev options, I confirm that I can see the option "Maximum connected audio Bluetooth devices" (translation from french, sentence can be slightly different) in my Pixel 5 with Android 12, you should be able to see it. Default value is 5 and I can change it from 1 to 5.
hope this will help

FYI if anyone missed the latest update/announcement from the AAWireless team:
We got some complaints about Pixel 6 and Android 12 not connecting with AAWireless, and are investigating this issue. We can assure you there are no hardware limitations or compatibility issues. It does look more like bugs introduced in Android 12, but until we find the exact cause of this issue, we won't point fingers. That being said, we are not able to reproduce this issue yet as our Pixel 6's are not manifesting this problem. We have reached out to Google for support, but haven't received any answers yet.

Car: Volvo S60 '19
Phone: Samsung s21
AAWireless version: 1.5.0
AA version 6.6
I had some nasty bugs with disconnecting and choppy playback when Android Auto app was "minimalized" in my car. When I changed AA to fuel consumption or messages app I still heard music but it started to lag, when I went back, a video was also very laggy. It looks like buffer overflow or something like that.

I resolved a disconnecting problem with another USB cable from OnePlus. Then I changed USB mode to MTP with force something, don't remember right now. After that lag disappeared and playback works just as it should, also activated force video mode, but I believe that it was not a solution for this problem.

EDIT: None of those fixes worked :D The proper solution for Samsung was installing Samsung Good Guardians and optimize apps. Now everything works flawlessly :D

I got exact same problem. Do you need to alway optimize apps before connecting to AAwireless?

I have the same issue. I have an LG phone and someone else put me on to the fact that LG only allows 2 BT connections at a time. So now I disconnect my Watch before I get into the car.
I also have no entry in Developer options to set more than 2 BT connections.

I actually unpaired my car yet everything still seems to work fine. The only problem I have now is that my USB stays powered on after shutdown and so my phone will try to connect to it after I'm out of the vehicle and in the house... The start stop function does not work with the vehicle unpaired

Hello, I also have connection issues with the AAwireless device. I thought the disconnects are random, but now I can reproduce the error. Everytime if the mobile internet is gone and it reconnects, the device disconnect from my phone. So if I drive in a region with bad internet the device disconnects really often. Any ideas?

Phone: Xiaomi Mi 11 with Xiaomi.eu ROM (Android 12 , MIUI 13) My Car: SEAT Leon ST (VAG) 2019
    Hi,
Same phone, same rom, same problem on VW Passat 2017 MIB2 Discover media.

Played a lot with phone /AAwireless device/car settings with no luck.

Also tested on Skoda with factory enabled wireless AA head unit - same thing.

So, seems that it is not AAWireless device problem, but MIUI (some driver, or system app that causes such disconnections)

The only working option I have found is to downgrade rom version to 21.10.22 (MIUI 12.6 A12).

Actually first few releases of xiaomi.eu A12 roms had no issues with wireless Android auto, but can remember which was the last one (above mentioned is ok and I keep my phone with this version).

I do not always test new rom version, but time to time only, due to need to make clean flash every tyme to downgrade, which is annoying...

    hello, did you try this:

Hi, you are reffering to different issue. I do not have it at all. In good coverage area all is great!

The one me and Wiesel1985 mention is: "Everytime if the mobile internet is gone and it reconnects, the device disconnect from my phone. So if I drive in a region with bad internet the device disconnects really often."

Seems it is not related to Xiaomi phones only - see https://github.com/cpebit/aawireless-issues/issues/83

Unfortunately for the moment I do not know/read about any fix.

@Emil Borconi @Snirpo, not sure if this is on your radar yet, but your alpha app expires on Firebase in 7 days, so you'll either have to reupload it as a "new" release or rehost it elsewhere.

Thanks for the head up! Last half year has been well... Pardon my words, utter sh*t. Juggling with components, mistakes from the Chinese side, mistakes from our side. So sadly there has been very little to no work on the app. In general the current Play Store app works fine. One reason the alpha app hasn't been released yet is because of the start / stop mechanism being not good enough. Getting it to work correctly on all phones is tricky. And getting it to work all the time is even trickier. Also in Android 12, Google changed stuff which makes it even more tricky (they removed car mode).
Anyways, it seems the Motorola dongle uses another way to start up Android Auto, which is like a built in AA start / stop mode. We are figuring out how to get this working. That will be way better then us trying to hack around Android limitations.
Also apart from the start / stop mode we are working on a 2.0 companion app, with a refreshed UI. I expect we can release it soon.

    Hello,

I've recently acquired one of these AAWireless units and it has mostly been plug and play with my car (which is great), but have noticed some latency in audio and maps navigation.

    Oneplus 8 Pro
Subaru Impreza 2017 Stock Headunit (Starlink) - AUS
    AAW FW: 1.8
    AAW Device: AAWireless-W2fzdMM7

The device only connects to my headunit in MTP plus retry mode (any other mode causes Android Auto to endlessly spin looking for the AAW unit).

Spotify streaming works (albeit with occasional music jumps every few seconds), Plex music streaming stops after 10 seconds with the phone showing "error playing content" and Google Maps has about a 2 second delay in navigation readouts (using the cable to the same phone in the same car does not present any of these issues).

I've tried submitting a bug report, however it seems to cause the AAW unit to reboot as the headunit loses AA connectivity. The app suggests to press the AA button on the headunit in the car but this option is not available after selecting 'submit bug report'.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

EDIT: I have also tried with passthrough mode enabled and that made no difference.

I noticed this also was really hoping for an app update by now it's been a long time. Really need pick your device setting since my wife and I are both in a car a lot at the same time it never works properly.

Yup, bumping the question:) As I've wrote earlier on this thread - on my S20 and S9 I am getting my AAW restarting after connecting to my VW's dash. Checked in two VW cars with the same result. Works just fine in Mazda tho (or at least does not crash right away - did not make any long run on this car).

    cheers

This thread is dedicated for AAWireless users.

AAWireless is a device which allows you to transform your existing wired Android Auto compatible unit into a Wireless Android Auto unit.

General chat, experience sharing and community support should be expected as well as support from the developers of the product: @Snirpo and myself.
    16
I just want to leave a big THANK YOU for the developers! You invented a great product and do a great job here.

Anyone who has ordered the product knows that it is a crowdfunding project, which may also have teething problems. I find it cheeky to get upset about problems, even though they are dealt with promptly here. What more should the distributors do than react to the problems here and offer solutions?

I also have problems with the device, but I was helped quickly. Even if it takes a few days.

Dear team: Keep up the good work!
    15
We fixed the "VW Headunit crashing on skipping tracks" issue now completely. Confirmed it's a bug on the HU side, latency makes it worse. We will probably push a new firmware by the end of this week.
I will also submit a bug report to Google, cause they can fix/workaround this issue as well for cabled users.

I've already waited patiently for delivery 3 months more than expected - I ordered In April and was coming in June but now that's looking like October. Now I read on the indiegogo forum that people in the UK are being charged an additional €27 by the Royal mail as the UK is now not in the EU.

    Hi Emil!
Just received my AAWireless, and will plug in and test tonight. Love the packaging, looks great! However… Since it was shipped from Hong Kong I was forced to pay a rather substantial import fee and duties on this bad boy. I was under the impression that they would be shipped from within the EU? Is it stands now I’m EUR 27,00 poorer :(

Looks like you are in the UK which is outside EU and also there is no way to pre-pay taxes with shipping company any more either....

This is a crazy. An additional $10 was already taken for delivery and it was meant to ship from the EU. I suspect the units have been shipped by Royal Mail / Dutch post. The Royal Mail rips off people in the UK because they add another £11 in admin fees on top of the 20% VAT even though goods up to £135 should be exempt.
    See https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...s-goods-sold-to-customers-from-1-january-2021

So not only has VAT been charged coming into the EU from China, it has also been charged coming into the UK ON TOP of the VAT already paid in the EU.

This is just rubbish. What the guys need to do is either ship it from Hong Kong which can cost £0.20 (there are hundreds of chinese ebay and aliexpress sellers doing this already
    See http://www.vatfraud.org/blog/stop-s...ons-universal-postal-union-upu-terminal-dues/
The $10 postage already taken should then be refunded.

The other way round it is send the item from Hong Kong and to mark the item as a gift and providing it is below £39 there is NO VAT to pay and NO Royal mail admin fee. Actually as the original product was $57 - roughly £41.25 This wouldn't be a crime seeing as we have had to wait soo long. This could also mean the $10 delivery could be refunded

The other way is to ship it via fedex and state the ex-vat cost coming from china and then add 20% vat that the developer should be paying to the UK HMRC.

Sadly if that doesn't take place, EVERYONE IN THE UK will feel ripped off because of the poor delivery and poor choices made by the developers.

    Cheers
    Disgruntled in the UK

First of all, your item wasn't shipped yet since in the June batch, so you could have not payed anything for shipping. Secondly, UK is outside the EU, there was a vote about this in 2016, so it doesn't matter if the package comes from EU or from HK or from US, it is treated the same, it's an import. If we import it from HK to EU, we will pay import VAT on the product, then when we send it to UK, we claim back that VAT and we should pay VAT in UK, since there is no more free trading between EU and UK.

Up till recently there was a nice option, to pay VAT and Import duty up-front, when you ship to the UK, but this has been changed and now they requires business outside UK to register with HMRC and do HMRC feeling even if they are residing outside UK, a lot of red tape. Since crowdfunding is not a sale, we can still ship the units to UK, but not sure if we will be able to after the IndieGoGo campaign.

We are also a EU registered company so we cannot (and will not take advantage) of any loop-holes in systems to sell at ridiculously / unrealistically cheap prices.

About the user who paid 27 euros, it turned out that user is living in DK, but provided the address as UK so his package traveled the wrong way, hence the extra duties and surcharges.

Not aware of other users from UK having to pay anything additional when they received the package.

    Hello. What's new in 1.5?
A full changelog for each release would really be appreciated :)
Thanks for all the hard work!
Yes, I'll write a full changelog next week from 1.0.0 to 1.5.0 and put it on GitHub + add a link in the app.
