Hello
I'm having some issues with the AA Wireless. I use a Samsung Galaxy s20 and a MIB2 head unit (MHI2) on an Audi A4 B9.
When driving over road bumps or potholes, the connection is briefly interupted and short time after it reconnects. The problem is when it disconnects, if I'm listening music on YT music or Sporify, it automatically moves to radio, so I have to manually start music again and that's frustrating. I used the cable provided in the original package, then switched to a Baseus one, even tried with original Samsung cables or other aftermarket brands. When having longer trips it happens several times per trip and it's getting on my nerves. I realised that if I slightely move the AA Wireless device or move the cable it disconnects.
Is there any way to fix it?

Sounds like a defective USB connector, please contact [email protected] for a replacement.

@Snirpo I have reported here in the forum that my AAWireless sometimes struggles a lot to start AA in my head unit (without getting an answer about it).
So, I've been following the issue, and I've discovered that it occurs when my phone loses data signal; whenever my phone loses data connection at the same time AAW is starting, it struggles and fails until my phone reconnects to the internet, at which point it starts successfully and connects to AAW. It doesn't matter if it's in dongle mode or not... But to be clear, I'm currently working with it in dongle mode, and the Start/Stop feature on.

Is this behavior OK? - So if I'm in a place without data, for example, a basement, it cannot start AA until I go out and get data on my phone. If I'm in an area where there is no data coverage, the AAW is useless...

Any thoughts??

Thank you!!

As far as I am concerned, my AAW connects correctly and remains connected, whether I have a data connection or not (for example in a basement without phone signal) !...

What phone are you using? It shouldn't make any difference if there's mobile data or not.
@Snirpo I'm using an OnePlus 8Pro, Android 13, not rooted. My car is a Citroën C5 AC PHEV.

I started to get those issues like ~4 months ago, is something "recent"... And I also noticed once that I went to Andorra where I don't have Roaming services, when I arrived driving the AAW was connected and working good until I switched off the car... being there when I tried to start again AA using the AAW dongle, it didin't connect, it was restarting and restarting until I went out the principality and entered to Spain again and my data services were restored, then the AAW started and AA worked... Ultra wierd stuff...

My car is C5 AC (not PHEV) too...

May I make an hypothesis : when your phone looses 4g data signal, may be there is some automatic switching in your wifi settings that disconnects the phone from AAW (phone seeking for wifi datas...) ?

That's an intriguing theory, but why doesn't it disconnect when it loses its data connection while connected to AAW? - I mean, if the AA is running and everything is working, it doesn't disconnect or fail if the data services go down or stop; it only happens when it's trying to start AA and connect the AAW at the beginning of a drive.

May be AAW wifi remains connected when already used by AAW, but if AAW is not connected, the phone seeks another wifi signal and is then not available for AAW wifi connection. I suspect something like that, maybe you can resolve it using some routine or macro...

Interesting. Could you please elaborate a little bit about the routine or macro? - What should the phone do or refrain from doing?

Thanks!!

Fixed all previous issues with my AWW , now it connects in Dongle Mode fast.

The only issue is disconnection randomly, once per drive .
I set Wifi Channel to any No and still testing the rest of.

Any solution for my Xiaomi Mi 11 lite?! Should I change my phone?

Yes you can, AAWireless hosts a hotspot. Password of the hotspot is uppercased sha1 of the full SSID. I don't know what performance impact this has though. But I expect none, cause the wifi has more than enough bandwidth.
How do I derive the password from this SSID:
AndroidAuto-AAWxxxxxxxx
I tried something, but the connection failed.

Thank you.

EDIT:
I already figured it out.

Xiaomi phones have a known bug where they kill WiFi when 4G signal is lost.
Until this bug is fixed by Xiaomi itself, there is no solution :-(

The created hotspot is not connected to the Internet, is it correct or is it a mistake on my part.
I connect a device, such as a laptop, to the hotspot, but there is no Internet connection.
I thought AAWireless would take the internet from the connected phone and provide it to the hotspot, but I guess it doesn't work that way. I think I already know.

No internet indeed. The phone can't provide internet to the Wi-Fi hotspot of AAW. However, long time ago we had plans to make it possible to let AAW work in client mode to a hotspot on the phone side. We have a bit of time (finally, after two years), so we can add this functionality. I'm just curious about one topic I thought already for a long time.

It is about the automatic videon focus request of Android Auto.

We drive a Renault.

Option 1:
When I turn on automatic video focus request in Android Auto options, the Infotainment system will turn on and show Google Maps as soon as I open the door. In this case the music starts playing even though I did not start the engine yet.

Option 2:
When I turn on automatic video focus request in AAWireless options, there is no automatic start of Google Maps. The behavior is the same like with the option off.

I do not like option 1 because we have a kid and it takes sometimes a couple of minutes until the kid is in the car. As the music already plays it will drain the car battery. Moreover when I forgot something in my car and I open only one door to take it out, the Infotainment system fires up including music.

I noticed the following behavior:
When option 1 is active, my phone will connect to my car by Bluetooth as soon as I open the door.
When no automatic video focus request is active, the phone will not connect by Bluetooth until I start the engine.

I prefer an option with automatic video focus as soon as I start the engine. I hoped option 2 could do this. Unfortunately option 2 seems not to work. What's the experience with other Renault drivers?

Do you have any ideas?

I changed my AAWIRELESS cable but it gives error after a while using them disconnected, so I moved back to its original cable.
I afraid it doesn't damage my dongle however it works fine as past.
@Snirpo any opinion ?! I love my AAwireless much. So is it fine?;

Did this start happening on the upgrade to Android 13 by any chance?
Hi @Snirpo, no, TBH I was paying a lot of attention to any misbehavior on all my stuff when I got the update, because there's always a bug or a problem after updating the OS. But AAW was working as a charm, as always, it was suddenly, I can say that the issue started to appear around mid-December 2022... IDK if it was related to an AA update or an AAW app update...

    Quoting myself:
Android Auto is not very well optimized for playing videos, because normally you cannot play videos over Android Auto. These limitations get amplified by using Android Auto wirelessly because of added latency.
The main problem AA is bassiccly streaming a car specific UI to the car which needs to be a realtime as possible, otherwise it would feel sluggish when controlling the UI with the touchscreen. For navigation etc it doesn't really matter if it's a little bit laggy or jittery. While for video, it's better to have a bit of buffer to smooth it out.
But please create a video of what lag you exactly mean. AA isn't optimized for video player apps in any way. It may work fine wired, because of virtually no latency, but that doesn't mean it will work fine wireless. Playing videos on AA (with Fermata for example) is a hack. We cannot support that. If Google decides at one point to make videos possible when parked, that will change the situation, but right now it's a hack.

I tried everything you said, clearing caches, storage, unpairing, uninstalling, debug, etc. I tried it all a million ways for two hours in my car. This device was fine a week ago when we went from a Samsung Note 10+ to the S23 Ultra on the same Nissan Rogue. I couldn't even do the debug as when I would try it would say could not get debugging status is it powered on? Then sometimes debug started (i think) but when I would go back it would say unable to get debug log or similar. And my device would always disconnect and reconnect from Bluetooth like crazy.

I tried using a phone Sim tool to hard reset the device. I used the app to do the same thing. Using setup it would always look like it was going to work till the end where it would timeout "Looking for Android Auto" in the notification garage door. Then it would send me through troubleshooting. During troubleshooting my device would flash green forever and then sometimes it would stay solid red. I have no clue what is happening here as it was fine a week ago? Please help me out here. We backed you when you were still working on the devices but this is a little much. I thank you for your time and effort though. Let's try round two please.

    Sincerely,

    5th
I'm trying to help. But at some point I have honestly no idea what to do or try.
Every time Samsung releases a new flagship phone, Android Auto starts breaking and our support ticket count explodes. It happened with the S20, 21, 22, Fold 3 and now also the S23 and Fold 4. And this "cheap" dongle always gets the blame, because it cannot be the 1000+ dollar phone.
Anyway, maybe the dongle is broken and it's pure coincidence. So let's try to replace it. Please contact [email protected]. You can mention this post and support will replace it for you.

Hi, I'm currently still facing facing the audio stutter issue from a few months ago. The audio cuts out every 30 seconds, for about a second, this is always the case, without exception.

I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, in Mazda CX5 2021. The firmware version is 2.1.0.

I have tried enabling/disabling passthrough and dongle mode, and tried as well changing the WiFi frequency, and channels, without any luck. If I connect the phone directly to the car, using the same USB cable, there are literally no stutter, I have tried on different occasions.

I do remember that one of the firmware versions were working fine in terms of stuttering, but that was like an year ago, don't remember which one exactly.

    Is there any fix?

Video lags on wired to wireless Android Auto adapters.

I used two different wired to wireless AA adapters. Watching YouTube videos on Fermata Auto app or CarTube apps lags.

Can AA wireless adapter brand fix this issue?

Im using S22 Ultra on a Hyundai.

I'm watching videos only when parked. Never during driving.

I have a query hopefully somebody can advise me on.

    Phone is: Huawei P30 Pro
    Car is : 2021 Peugeot 2008

Now Android Auto wireless does work pretty much as you'd expect , it's reliable, starts up fast and plays *some* audio just fine.
    --

My query is, whilst it will play things like MP3's stored on the phone ok, if I try and play something that would use a mobile data/internet connection, it will fail.
Example: Spotify and a radio app called myTuner Pro (both are legitimate to work on AA) these will not play when AAW is working.

If I get my phone, turn off Wi-Fi to break the AAW connection and try to use these apps on mobile data, they will work as expected, but the moment I turn Wi-Fi back on and allow AAW to connect, the sound stops.

Is this a AAW limitation or is there any settings I can try to see if audio that requires a connection to work will play?
No, this is a bug in EMUI. When the phone shows a dialog about "You're connected to a network without internet" when connected to AAWireless (or any other dongle), ignore this dialog. Do not press any of the button in the dialog, because you will loose internet. Anyway the P30 Pro, or any Huawei phone for that matter is not officially supported by Google for Android Auto Wireless (https://support.google.com/androidauto/answer/6348019?hl=en#zippy=,android-auto-on-your-car-display-wireless). So it will be a broken experience.

This thread is dedicated for AAWireless users.

AAWireless is a device which allows you to transform your existing wired Android Auto compatible unit into a Wireless Android Auto unit.

General chat, experience sharing and community support should be expected as well as support from the developers of the product: @Snirpo and myself.

I used to get the same thing. I believe it is an issue with AA/Google rather than AAW. In any event, I have had to give up on AAW as I can't connect to it/won't update, just sits there with a constant light-blue light. It is a (very expensive) paper weight on my desk now. It is just "too Beta" for my requirements.

I have now got a Carlink 2022 Android box which works flawlessly for me.
    MG ZS EV 2022
    Galaxy S21 Ultra (not rooted)
I know I should ignore these posts, but these are the comments why I'm honestly considering completely dropping out any forum / reddit / social media. What's the point? We have support, we have warranty, we have a refund policy. It might be "beta" for you, but we shipped over 100k devices and believe me or not, for most, it just works. It's the same thing for all of these dongles. They will not work perfectly for all, there are just too many variables.

I just want to leave a big THANK YOU for the developers! You invented a great product and do a great job here.

Anyone who has ordered the product knows that it is a crowdfunding project, which may also have teething problems. I find it cheeky to get upset about problems, even though they are dealt with promptly here. What more should the distributors do than react to the problems here and offer solutions?

I also have problems with the device, but I was helped quickly. Even if it takes a few days.

Dear team: Keep up the good work!
    15
Very close to release of 2.1.0 now. We fixed the UConnect issue, except for some cases where you still have to re-plug the device, but this is also the case on the MA1.
    15
We fixed the "VW Headunit crashing on skipping tracks" issue now completely. Confirmed it's a bug on the HU side, latency makes it worse. We will probably push a new firmware by the end of this week.
I will also submit a bug report to Google, cause they can fix/workaround this issue as well for cabled users.
