I enabled the develop build for your device. Don't think it will help, but you can try :) Please report back it it helped or not.
Hello. I have tested the new firware. The stability is better, and now after losing the connection (just 1 time on 10 time) the device resume connection in 10-15 seconds.

Sometimes happen one strange thing now, the phone lost all the BT pairing. Could be related to permission of the android auto app to manage the BT connection?

By looking at the app with some previous various fixes for Cars, I wonder why there is not any fix for Xiaomi issue by far.
Since it is a miui/software issue, it would be dreamy if the dev work on it and update the app included a fix.

I'm not even sure it's technically (or legally) possible, but either way, it's definitely not the responsibility of AAWireless. It's not the responsibility of any dongle maker or even Google. It's entirely Xiaomi's problem to fix. Android Auto devs might be able to create some sort of inactivity timeout to cope with the dropout, but you can't expect a third party to mod an integrated Google app that updates frequently without changing the ROM.

I've never seen Xiaomi even acknowledge the issue and it's been well over a year. The issue continues with A13/MIUI 14 so they clearly DGAF. Even if they patched it tomorrow, I will never buy another Xiaomi product again.

There is a fix though, switch to a custom ROM. I had been testing various options on an older phone and decided on Pixel Experience for my daily driver just as they lost their maintainer for the POCO F3. I'm now waiting for a stable LineageOS 20.

I'm not even sure there is close to enough people actually reporting the issue, there was a beta program for the MIUI 14 release and I'm sure most people just wanted an "early access" to it and didn't report any issues.

Also, I'm not sure the bug affects any other functionality other than us with AAWireless. Does this affect people with other AA wireless dongles?

Anyway, definitely gonna try flashing LineageOS 20 at some point, I'm testing it on an older Mi Mix. AND definitely I'm skipping any MIUI phone in the future.

The bug affects all other dongles and also baked in android auto wireless.

I'm positive they are aware of the issue. I first found out from a beta tester that the problem continued with MIUI 14 then confirmed from other posts here and on reddit. I have sent bug reports with "Services & Feedback" on the phone and created several threads then replied to others on the official MIUI forum. I also reported the bug (feature?) on the POCO community site:

http://new.c.mi.com/global/forum-sub/10062

https://community.poco.in/feedback

If you look at the bug tracker they have obscure things listed like "Music app can not update" or "Charging indicator wasn’t displayed correctly" for individual handsets yet they have never listed the wifi dropout issue that affects all devices running MIUI 12.5.6 or later.

I suspect it's a side effect from battery saving. Some sort of tethering for mast hops. Xiaomi have always prioritised battery saving over everything else IMO. I still can't force non MIUI apps to keep running in the background even with the apps locked, no restrictions in battery saver enabled and the phone running in performance mode. Maybe their typical customer prefers battery life over apps actually working?

Are there any plans for AA via Carplay like Ottocast is doing?

Currently my Mercedes MBUX system does not support AA in full screen mode. With Ottocast it is possible to use AA in full screen mode when using AA via Carplay.
Yes, we have it already functional, but it's still very much in development. Our main focus is now getting native CarPlay (with an iPhone) to work on as many head units as we can, which is hard. The plan is to release 3.0.0 soon with beta opt-in native CarPlay and AA over CarPlay functionality (plus whole bunch of other improvements).

These issues make zero sense unfortunately. Depends on the car and phone. I once created a firmware where we up the max unacked messages a bit to enlarge the buffers a bit. May or may not help, you can try if you want. What's the name of the device?

Hello, I managed to connect the AAwireless, AAWaa6aa8b5, firmware 2.2.0, in my car, with a samsung cell phone in 2.4 giga, with AA version 8.8.6.3, the problem is not the compatibility of the AAwireless dongle with my car, as I thought .

I updated the version of my Xiomi rednote 11s, to version AA 8.8.6.3, it still doesn't turn on, it keeps saying "looking for android auto" see my screenshots,

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Edit: In setings/apps/permissions/autostart, I don't find the AndroidAuto app, is that why it doesn't start?

Can a switch be implemented in the app so that when turned off the device won't connect to the phone and launch Android Auto?
My scenario is the following: when traveling long distances I usually plug the phone to the cable because otherwise the battery would be empty when I get to the destination. So I have to unplug the AA Wireless device and connect to phone via cable. I have 2 USB ports in my car. I would like to keep the AA Wireless permanently connected to the USB port and connect the phone via cable to the other USB port, but use the wired connection. If I leave both devices connected I get disconnections. Would some kind of a switch be possible?

Update received. I will test and give feedback.

*** Update: on a trip of about 1 hour, not a single audio glitch. Thank you very much.
Ok, good to know. This is a total hack though, hacking into the AA protocol. I guess we can include it as an option in firmware 3.0... these kinds of issues come and go though with Google tinkering in AA.

Just received my AAWireless unit and have got it installed and working in the car. There are a lot of settings in the app! Is there a manual or document somewhere that explains what they all do? I don't fancy reading 267 pages of this thread...

I'm particularly interested in the DPI one and anything else that might affect it working in my Merc SLC

Maybe I'm to naiv, I just thought there couldn't be a way to let AA use the normal connection but the rest of the phone uses the VPN.
Check your VPN settings. You should have a whitelist that allows you to bypass apps of your choice.
I'm using the Google 1 VPN, and have it set to bypass both Android Auto and AAWireless. No issues whatsoever.

It worked fine for 5 month until the last days, now stuttering with two devices without any changes were made.
Then I'm pretty sure the audio stutter firmware will not help. We've been having more tickets about audio stuttering lately, so good chance Google changed stuff in Android Auto. But I'll enable the firmware, let's sew if it helps.

Thanks. Update is available then over AAWireless App?
Yeah, it will be a bit delayed. Saving the settings without changing anything should speed it up. Please report back wether it helped or not :)

This thread is dedicated for AAWireless users.

AAWireless is a device which allows you to transform your existing wired Android Auto compatible unit into a Wireless Android Auto unit.

General chat, experience sharing and community support should be expected as well as support from the developers of the product: @Snirpo and myself.

I used to get the same thing. I believe it is an issue with AA/Google rather than AAW. In any event, I have had to give up on AAW as I can't connect to it/won't update, just sits there with a constant light-blue light. It is a (very expensive) paper weight on my desk now. It is just "too Beta" for my requirements.

I have now got a Carlink 2022 Android box which works flawlessly for me.
    MG ZS EV 2022
    Galaxy S21 Ultra (not rooted)
I know I should ignore these posts, but these are the comments why I'm honestly considering completely dropping out any forum / reddit / social media. What's the point? We have support, we have warranty, we have a refund policy. It might be "beta" for you, but we shipped over 100k devices and believe me or not, for most, it just works. It's the same thing for all of these dongles. They will not work perfectly for all, there are just too many variables.

I just want to leave a big THANK YOU for the developers! You invented a great product and do a great job here.

Anyone who has ordered the product knows that it is a crowdfunding project, which may also have teething problems. I find it cheeky to get upset about problems, even though they are dealt with promptly here. What more should the distributors do than react to the problems here and offer solutions?

I also have problems with the device, but I was helped quickly. Even if it takes a few days.

Dear team: Keep up the good work!

Very close to release of 2.1.0 now. We fixed the UConnect issue, except for some cases where you still have to re-plug the device, but this is also the case on the MA1.
    15
We fixed the "VW Headunit crashing on skipping tracks" issue now completely. Confirmed it's a bug on the HU side, latency makes it worse. We will probably push a new firmware by the end of this week.
I will also submit a bug report to Google, cause they can fix/workaround this issue as well for cabled users.
