It did not pass the Safetynet check. Also the seller confirmed by pm that it is not a genuine ULM model like they had on the listing but rather "G710PMP unlocked version". I looked up the IMEI and it says it is G710PMPL. The phone settings say it is G710ULM.

Also The Serial number is not on the sticker or on the Hardware info. The Software update center is not working properly. It says not updated yet when it should display the date of the last update. The pop-up says "You are using the latest software version for current OS" yet as I just mentioned it also says "not updated". The Android security patch level says July 1st 2019 which is a year and a half ago. My old phone which is also a G7 that I bought from Google Fi has a security patch level date of February 1st, 2020.

How can I update to the security patches as they come out or is this impossible? Please help.

I have the same message. I am on Tracfone (owned by Verizon now) using an ATT SIM. VoLTE is not available to me. Does anyone have experience with other carriers - does VoLTE work on T-Mobile or Verizon?

can confirm both VoLTE and VoWifi worked on T-Mobile (ULM20f Pie). However, didn't work with Android 10 (tried KR & CA). Had to go back to pie.

Interesting. I'm running Pie. I turned them both on through the hidden menu, VoWifi showed up in settings but won't actually enable, VoLTE is still totally missing.

I was using command line "LGUP_Cmd" to cross flash and wipe the device first. After that LGUP with "Partition DL" option.
kdz file: G710ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218.kdz
No hidden menu changes.

I bought one of these a little over a year ago. I was able to update it to Pie about 8 months ago and I had no issues at all with it. I just put in my carrier's APN info and all was good. Then last week something came up in one of my feeds saying that Andriod 12 roms were now available, so I dove in.

I've put in close to 80 hours on it now. I've been in IT for over 30 years, but all this phone modding is a bit new to me. It took me a ton of trial and error to figure out which versions of which tools were right for the job. The initial searches that brought me here landed on pretty old advice that I was trying to work with. I think I've got a pretty good feel for it now and my tools are all in order.

I eventually got version 30e flashed, but there were issues with it. So I kept going through a loop of trying fixes that didn't help or made things worse, forcing me to go back to Oreo and start from scratch. I have like 8 different roms I've DL'd and have spent days running them all through the wringer. I must have flashed it 40 times by now, but I think I've sorted out which ones are optimal for my goal.

My objective is to get it working correctly on Andriod 10, root it, and install Magisk. I was able to unlock the bootloader about 3 days ago. But now, it doesn't matter what I do or which image I have flashed, I always get a message on boot about the device cannot be checked for corruption. It still boots after a few seconds, but it's a little annoying.

Anyway, the main issue I'm having now is that ever since about the third time I tried to unlock the bootloader, my phone has locked itself to T-mobile as its carrier. No matter what I flash it with, it's stuck on T-Mobile. I ran a check on my IMEI and it says it's a Sprint phone. It even showed me my missing serial number. I can still make and receive calls somehow, but no mobile data.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, the IMEI checker displayed TAC and CD numbers. Are they of any use to us?

30e AWM should work with T-Moble without any issues.I have AT&T and the IMS settings don't provision period with it.This is the copy I'm speaking of if you haven't tried it?Oh,the Swappa information doesn't matter as long as you know the correct model and region version.

There's been a lot of new users picking up cheap G7 ThinQ G710ULM (US Unlocked) versions on ebay lately, then getting frustrated when they find out it a hacked Sprint version (G710pm).
I'm finding posts from new users on different corners of the internet, Telegram groups, Reddit, etc, usually saying that they can't upgrade from Oreo and their device is missing a serial number, and the IMEI is actually from the Sprint pm version. I couldn't find a lot of info in one place about these handsets, so I'm starting this thread to discuss them. There's a good chance any ULM on ebay for a good price is one of these. I bought 3 of them for different people from different sellers, and this was the case on all of them. I almost returned them all and gave up until I did some research and found out THIS ISN'T NECESSARILY A BAD THING!

In fact, it may actually be beneficial compared to the real ULM version in some ways. First of all, it WILL work with T-mobile USA just fine. The bands all seem to work, it even supports WiFi calling and VOLTE, and there's a chance even B71 will work (although this isn't 100% verified, it shows up as an available band to test in the service menu). The real ULM supposedly skips this band. Some people even say the real ULM version is also missing bands for AT&T, but the PM crossflashed version seems to connect to them (this might be an isolated incident or fluke, but at least one redditor claims this was his experience). I'm still not clear on how the unlocked official US version can be missing AT&T bands, so I'd love for other people to maybe chime in here with their experiences.

Yes, you can update to Pie. The OTA updates won't work, likely because of the missing serial number. On that note, I'd LOVE to find out why that is. Can anyone explain why these crossflashed devices are missing the SN? Does that happen on other crossflashed devices?
Either way, follow this guide here:
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...how-to-install-pie-stock-treble-aosp-t3914079
Note, this guide was written for flashing a European variant, but the same steps apply. Just choose a kdz for the ULM variant from here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmg710ulm-firmwares/#tab=firmwares
^ I recommend the latest Google Fi firmware version, which is G710ULM20e_00_NAO_US_OP_1010.kdz , from 2019-11-14
There is a more recent version from BPT, but it is unclear what that firmware is for. BPT seems to be some sort of regional carrier, so you are better off with the regular USA or Fi version.
Also note, you may need to use 7zip to extract the dll file from that guide. That took me a while to figure out, as Windows explorer throws an error with it. Once you finish, your phone will reboot with a shiny new (relatively) up to date Pie firmware!

There. You now saved yourself a few bucks and got a solid phone. Feel free to share your experiences with the handset here.

The devices lose the s/n and possibly imei because people are flashing using lgup 1.14 dev version which causes issues with nvdata.

Lgup 1.15 fixes this when you go back to oreo then update to pie.

Also crossflashed devices do not get ota because lgup marks these devices as crossflashed in nvdata using a 0x01 value for certified_device

Remember now bootloader and root for the LG g7 is just the beginning. You talk about nvdata you might as well throw out EFS backup as well.

The point is that TWRP creates faulty EFS backups on many devices which can't be restored properly. For our devices TWRP is barely universal. People selling crossflashed phones know this which is why they sell them.

I prefer the manual backup using adb shell you can do it with terminal emulator as well.

Qfil is very powerful for Qualcomm devices and we'll figure out how to make back ups of all partitions that involve serial numbers and IMEI ( nvdata and efs).

    Just wait you'll see.
