Thanks again. Going to test on my wife's old XT926....then do mine if it works.
Didn't work.

Runs through the reboot cycles...at the Towelroot step, I turn on wifi, click the button...then it says 'device isn't supported'. Back to the command prompt I hit enter. Reboots, connects to phone stating SuperSU already exists....then completes and says I am rooted....but I am not.

Who knows...oh well.

Did your phone kernel changed to May when you were at Towelroot step?

Dude, if it fails, you will have to factory reset your phone everytime it fails or it will never work.

Make sure that "USB Debugging" is on and that "Allow mock locations" is also on.

One thing that I believe helped me was to un-check the "Verify apps over USB"

Just remember, if it fails to root your phone, you will have to perform a factory reset and start again. If at first you dont succeed, try, try again

One thing I forgot to mention is before you start the process, boot your phone into "AP Fastbboot" and then connect to your PC, it should start installing drivers and once done, exit out of "AP Fastboot" and start the root process again

Thanks for the tip. Keep winding up at the Android 'No Command' screen after the third reboot (or 4th)....Will try a different USB port a little later.

Did you install all the drivers for your phone??, did you factory reset after every fail??, when you first run the program (cmd.exe) look for any error/fail on initial phase, if you see any, immediately shut down the program and then re-start it.

Any initial error/fail and it will not work. the initial phase is when you will get this problem and dont worry about closing the program at this phase because it will not harm your phone. Just re-start and look for all "Success" and it should work after that

Yes and yes. Drivers, check... Fdr each time, check.

Keep getting some failure on the initial phase during the file transfer, which is the cause of the issue. (I think I was overlooking it earlier today.)

Will have to try again this weekend...ran out of time today.

Tried again a few times on my phone. No dice. Looks like the older kernel is not being sent to the phone....even though the command line is indicating that copying the file was a success. (date is remaining t July 2014)....frustrating.

I supposed flashing with RSDLite would likely be the next step and start over?

Yep try RSDLite, then factory reset, then Hydrogen Peroxide. I took 2 times to get it done on my XT926 and over 10 times on my XT907.

The XT907 was a major pain in my arse but I finally got it done.

1. Flash 183.46.15 with RSDLite
2. Factory Reset on your phone
3. Hydrogen Peroxide for XT926.

I read somewhere that you have to edit some line in the XML of 183.46.15 but I think it depends where you downloaded the update from. I can upload the one I used and give you the link if that will help you?

Yes please. It would help me a ton. I have a small window to get her phone away from my wife to root it. I only want to root for tether and debloat it.

What fxz did you use? I didn't mean to jump in there on an open forum , I have dled several fxzs and I'm not sure which will work . And we are both still on unlimited, so we have to root to use the SQlite hack. I bought her the phone off craigslist after being told it was on .10 , and the phone is actually on .15. I'd appreciate a link to fxz you were successful with. Thanx

Here is the one I used http://www.mediafire.com/download/qwgk70yqf38ss86/VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_1FF.xml.zip

You still have Unlimited Data on Verizon??, is it at 3G speed or LTE?

The file linked here by Guapo613, post #95 worked perfectly to update from 182.46.15.XT926.verizon.en.us to 183.46.15.xt926

Thanks button pressed!

. I used rsd lite and the file mentioned above to go from 182.46.15.XT926.verizon.en.us to 183.46.15
Then i ran the bat file posted by HydrogenXS, with airplane mode and usb debugging etc, taken care of. I got the failure error as in post #20.
The device was then factory reset ( XT926.) From there i reconnected and ran the bat file again. Same error..

I ignored the error and after the commands to reboot it stuck and the phone rebooted and no device was being seen by the tool.
So i had the device disconnected and reconnected, rsa key allowed.
The file continued to run so at the end of the reboots. I had the kernel checked and everything was as should be with the May kernel showing. Ran towel root as asked by the tool.
It stated the device was rooted. Opened Supersu did any necessary steps and then a reboot.

The bat file ended. I ran adb shell and got the SuperSU request. It was granted. Device had root access and was confirmed!:D

A huge thanks to everyone involved in putting this together!
