hi, i bought one about a week ago now, and i think i have been reasonably lucky as i have no problems with charging, and no touch screen problems (i.e selecting apps doesnt result as a swipe up etc), but i do admit that trying to wake the screen up with a double tap was a pain,,, BUT, there is a solution to this that really works (for me),, simply double tap the bottom left of the screen instead, and it works every time as it should do. (Please let me know if this works for you too..)

The main problem for me is battery life.. moderate use, (20 apps installed) as i would like to use it, results in only about 6 hours of life,, and even less with custom watch on all the time.

by the way, im using it with a htc desire z running @ 1.5ghz on official GB MIUI rom.

also shake to wake works well for me.

if future firmware updates or fiddling with apps doesnt improve battery life, i will probably sell it in a few months and wait for the illusive IM' Watch. (would try the wimm one if it was released over here).

Jam.

Are you using the "On at all times" watch faces from Sony? While using either the Analog or Small Digital face I could not make it through a full day without the watch dying around 6pm.

I have about the same number of apps with constant notifications from every text message, call, missed call, gmail, email, play store notifications, profile change, calendar reminders, etc. With all that I get a solid 3-4 days of battery life (When I get home I take off and turn off the watch) as long as I use the default watch face.

Hi, yes that's right, I'm using the analogue sony watch face (on all the time).. I haven't even tried using the face that switches itself off.. I'll give it a go.. ideally though, id like to be able to shake to wake or double tap and go straight to the custom watch, bypassing the sony face, otherwise id have to double tap twice etc.. anyone think of a way round this? Thanks..

New owner as of 6/22/11 bluetooth ideas

Hi all
Im a recent purchaser of the sony smartwatch and when seting up it auto loaded the latest firmware version. So right out of the box its loaded with bugs.
what else is new from sony right?

anyways it seems that when it comes down to it, that the main problem is the disconnection and reconnection right? if the watch sayes connected then that solves 99% of the smartwatch issues. the bricking of the watch is a seperate issue.

anyways i have 3 thoughts.

1- can xda make the smart watch its own page and forum like the phones? is anyone working on hacking the software on it?

2- if bluetooth connection was the issue, and a lot of times if i walk too far away it dissconnects. Reconnecting is the problem SO, i was thinking about a "bluetooth repeater" or extender in my house. if this is financially possible. i found a few online but for like $300. plus none actually say BT3.0... any thoughts?

3- as a cheap alternative, what about using the cheap computer dongles as a way to "bridge" bluetooth signals ion the house? most people have more than one computer in the house. I was thinking of if i had a dongle on teh computer downstairs, and it bridges to the upstairs dongle, that would make the entire house one giant bluetooth signal no? anyone ever bridged or done somethign like this? wonder if that will work

I like the watch myself and I think the always on feature is OK but I like the original better. my battery last all week with regular use and If I need to see the time double tapping the touch screen to wake it isn't that difficult to do.

The Bluetooth extender I dunno if that is worth the price I mean the Bluetooth disconnects at a reasonable distance and it syncs back up very quickly without doing anything. I guess for me once I get home I just turn the watch off anyways so that would be and unessassary expense.

just returned mine

i just filled the form for the return through the sony store.
You might want to wait on buying one until they release a new update.

Right now im debating on ordering the I'm watch for $349, or the WIMM for 199.

sony could have had a blockbuster item on their hand with a $149 price, but alas, they couldnt get it right.

for the people with working units and no disconnects.. i cant imagine why yours is fine and the others arent.. maybe different manufacturers for the watch?

Is the Sony Smartwatch waterproof ? Just say if i'm washing my hands after eating and some drops of water splashes on the Smartwatch. Will it affect it ?

It is not waterproof, so you can't submerge it, shower or go swimming with it. It is splash proof though, so you can wash your hands and use it in the rain.

Well the watch only works with the phone, the watch doesn't without the phone. There is not storage on the watch and neither a headphone jack on the watch, so no the watch cannot work as mp3 player stand alone

latest results after talking with sony

well, i talked with sony before i shipped my item back.
i decided to try ANOTHER one. currently they are shipping me one.

after a few transfers on the phone, i spoke with a tech that said the whole reason that IM experincing issues is that my htc sensation was not part of their "verified" version that supports the watch.
they insisted that becasue all bluetooth devices are different, that they can only veryfiy working scenarios with the phones they list as compatible.

i posted that same thing in the market for the smartwatch software.

abyways, they were very happy to ship me a replacement and to try again.

i havnt received it yet.

i asked them if they plan on releasing an update that will support more phones, esp mine, she said she had no idea.

but i feel that if they, or someone, could just fix the smartwatch software, then the whole thing would be fine....after all, if they release an update and it fixes it, that would be good no?
cant some of you guys here do that sazme thing?

well, ill post my results when my replacement arrives... crossing my fingers that this one is working.

lastly,
is everyones smart watch box say it was made in china?
