Accelerometer stopped working, now only works for a few minutes after a restart.

I've been having this issue for a week. Before that my accelerometer worked perfectly fine, but now it doesn't work at all, except if I restart the device - but only for a few minutes. It also doesn't show any movement in Accelerometer scanning apps or games using it(e.g. Doodle Jump). Any idea on how to fix it? I'm using a custom ROM, AOSPExtended 7.1.2(gonna move on to 8.1 tomorrow, I hope that's a potential fix as well).
