I would be interested to know if/how it is possible to access the IR blaster in code. As far as I can see there is no native support for IR devices Android (unlike things such as Bluetooth). Any ideas about how I might be able to send commands to the IR blaster in an App? I have experience making apps but no idea how to access hardware that is not supported by default in the SDK.

I have submitted a request to Sony for information on development for the IR blaster, maybe if enough people do the same then information and a library for accessing it will be released.
