After discussion and requests amongst other threads to make the Lenovo P2 an Official maintained device,
I decided to step in the discussion and add the possibility of donating a handset to mikeNG to work on the Lenovo P2.
To ensure the future development and longevity of the P2 he was recommended by me because:
A: The Lenovo P2 is a SD625 based device, the SD625 is the successor of the SD615.
mikeNG has worked and is still maintaining SD615 based devices for LOS(former CM).
B: He is recognized XDA developer since 2011.
C: He is an Official LOS member and contributed to the project for years and still is doing so.
D: He is a Greece based developer. We all know that Lenovo bought Motorola from Google.
Lenovo is targeting its Lenovo handset products for the East/South-Eastern Hemisphere. Where Motorola is targeted for the Western Hemisphere.
Motorola handset's have been picked up in the past by Western-Hemisphere based developers and continue to do so.
Where Lenovo handset haven't seen much love by the Western-Hemisphere based developers. Mainly due to lack of required frequency's.
E: He speaks CAF kernel code fluently
As mike is not much active in the XDA forum but very much so on coding.
and in light of preserving transparency throughout the settled goal of 275€, I propose to collect all PayPal donations. (See donate to me button)
to this thread and generate a bar we'd be filling as we make donations.
Money will be sent straight away to him once the goal is reached, directly to him; not XDA or any other third person involved.
Goal = Price in Greece + Shipping Costs. Proof
Whether you have a PayPal account or not, doesn't truly matter because PayPal allows you to use either your debit or credit card to send the money you decide to send.
PayPal does provide you with a transaction number afterwards. You may post such transaction number here and we'll both update the bar and add your username right below
to keep track and recognize those who have donated.
Despite of the fact the price can go either higher or cheaper, we do not know as of yet.
Q: Why not an Chinese P2c72?
A: He is a Greece based developer and requires support for band 20.
Q: What about the future of the P2c72
A: The devices differ only in frequency's (modem) and internal storage (64GB). The P2c72 should therefore be supported.
Q: What if we don't reach the goal?
A: If it ever comes to that. (I highly doubt it). Then every donation made will be "rejected" hence the donated money will be returned to you in the form you paid.
