I'm late to the party, but hopefully some of you are still around to shed some light on the eternal debate of wether true 4k is worth the hassle of unlocking the bootloader and mess with all the steps to finally get it to work. Most of the info I've found is rather old and while some users do say there's indeed a difference, others say there's none at all.
I'm asking this because I recently bought this device for cheap to mess around with ivry/steamVR and compare the 807ppi against dedicated vr headsets, now that those are reaching similar resolutions. In a normal usage sceneario the question is rather irrelevant, as 1080p is perfectly fine, but not so much when you strap it and put it a few centimeters away with a pair of magnifying lenses. The phone still holds the crown of highest density display, so it's rather interesting to check how well it behaves in 2020.
Most likely I will end up rooting the device to enable daydream, but for now I would to hear your opinions.
