Universal Naked Driver 0.72

I read through this whole thread and wasn't able to find an answer.I'm trying to install the drivers on my XP machine and have uninstalled the naked drivers (no other drivers on my machine) and rebooted multiple times but each time I go to reinstall the drivers, after plugging my phone back in and pathing out the the location, I always get "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

any ideas? using version 0.72

EDIT: must be some Anti-virus restrictions at work... Worked at home later that night

Do this:

1) From the Window 8 Start screen, move your mouse to the top (or bottom) right corner, and click Settings;
2) Click "Change PC Settings";
3) Click "General";
4) Under Advanced startup, click "Restart Now";
5) Wait for it to restart;
6) Click "Troubleshoot";
7) Click "Advanced options";
8) Click "Startup settings";
9) Click "Restart";
10) Wait for it to restart;
11) Press F7 (i.e, the F7 function key);

Now you can install the driver.

Hi! I have windows 8.1, and under "Change PC Settings" i don't have "General".
and, of course, i tried installing Microsoft MTP driver, and no result. I still cannot transfer files via MTP.
I use the samsung driver from novafusion website.

any ideas?

Big note at the top: "NOTE: Fastboot USB drivers may be different for other Android phones. Bootloader should be unlocked. If you are unsure, Google this up for your phone."

Also the whole idea is to not need the entire SDK. :good:

I've tried Koush's "open" version, and had a number of problems getting devices to recognize and ended up coming back to this one, even though it seems @1wayjonny isn't doing anything with it anymore.

I've been using this driver on my Nexus devices and have been quite pleased with it. I have a oneplus one on the way. I didn't see support for this device. If I install the native oneplus driver on the same pc will it trip over the universal driver? Could support for the oneplus be added?

It might work anyway. My N7 '13 detected as a Nexus 4 and then worked fine, so maybe something similar will happen for the 1+1.

I'm thinking now that you may be right. I'm not sure just yet if the oneplus has native drivers but it seems that its a common practice to use Samsung drivers on this device.

My friend gave me his galaxy nexus, and I thought of playing with it a little. However, I am not able to install the drivers in Windows 10. Currently Samsung drivers work fine for ADB but they do not recognize fastboot. When I googled a bit, I found this page. Please advice, how I can use fastboot for galaxy nexus.

There are multiple different ADB packages you can google up.

Universal Naked Driver (this one)
15 seconds ADB Installer https://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Minimal ADB and Fastboot https://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2317790

I also googled how to enter fastboot mode: "Turn the phone off. Hold the volume-up and volume-down buttons simultaneously. Then hold the power button."

There are also GUI toolkits that can do many operations for you. They include:

SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT https://xdaforums.com/galaxy-nexus/development/gnex-toolkit-v11-1-0-drivers-backup-t1392310
Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit https://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1766475

Good luck! :)

I was finally able to force windows 10 to use the Google USB driver and it worked! Thank you. On a side note, I flashed omnirom and this galaxy nexus phone still works as awesome as i remember it used to 4 years ago! There are slight lags, but it still pumps iron just fine! What a beast. :)

    I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?

    I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.

    Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers

    Code:
    Google Nexus Devices ADB & Fastboot
    Samsung Devices ADB & Fastboot
    Asus Devices ADB, Fastboot & APX
    HTC Devices ADB & Fastboot

    Code:
    [B]Windows 8 Instructions[/B]

    How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:

    From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
    Click ‘More PC Settings’.
    Click ‘General’.
    Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
    Wait a bit.
    Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
    Click ‘Advanced Options’
    Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
    Click Restart.

    Enjoy!

    It might be a good idea to note in the OP to disable Signed Driver Enforcement in Windows 8.
    HTML:
    bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

    adb = Android Debug Bridge! only use on running Android system or recovery!

    in bootloader use "fastboot"

    use "fastboot devices" instead of "adb devices"
