Hello.

I work on a Solution for DAB+ in Germany. I have a Calearo 16v DAB+/FM Antenna. So i bought this: http://www.ebay.de/itm/NooElec-NESD...Tuner-Black-/151167807992?hash=item23324db1f8 and put it with Adapter http://www.ebay.de/itm/380790704616?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT at my DAB+ Antenna.

Apps i use for this:

- Wavesink Plus DAB+ FM-RDS
- RTL2832U driver

with my Phone it works awesome and its a really cheap Solution. I'll try it tomorrow in my Car. :)

I have a monkey board with an app for android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wal.dabmonkeypro) and that works great

Hey Folks.

My Solution for DAB+ with my Joying Stereo works very well. It should work with any other Android 4 Car Stereo.

What you need - Hardware:

- Nooelec Nano Stick with RTL2832U + R820T Tuner
- in my Case a Adapter for my Calearo 16v DAB/FM Antenna - a SMB/MCX Adapter

Software:
- RTL2832U Driver Playstore
- Wavesink Free for DAB only MP2 Files (Playstore) or Wavesink Plus for DAB+ and Recording (Playstore)

How to:

Connect the Antenna with the Adapter and the nooelec USB Stick. Put the USB Stick in the USB Port of the Radio. Install the Software. Start Wavesink and search for Channels.

Enjoy DAB+ in you Car Stereo.

Hey Dogballs its a Roof Antenna. I bought this 1 1/2 years ago. Its a great Antenna. http://www.calearo.com/eng/automoti...tennas/16v-combi-am-fmdab-dab--pno7677932.php

Cool, thanks.

The only thing I can find close is this..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-USB-...e-MCX-Input-/201349905111?hash=item2ee163bad7

Do you think this would work with the driver you mentioned? the description says its for windows.

I just dont want to order the Nooelec as it is in the states, and could take weeks to arrive, by which time i'll have lost interest in this project..:)

You're Welcome. I have this Antenna. The great Signal is worth the Installation Work. : http://www.calearo.com/eng/automoti...tennas/16v-combi-am-fmdab-dab--pno7677932.php

the Installation is in fact really easy. Loose the Screws from the Headlining (German: Dachhimmel :) ) loose the Old Antenna tie the old Anntena Cable and the new Antenna Cable together and pull the Cable with care to the a Pillar. Fix the Screw from the new Antenna and fix the Cable at the a Pillar behind the Dashboard to the Radio. You need a good Hour or 1 1/2 Hour. Excuse my imaginatively English :D

Hi Michael,

thanks for this good information!!

Two questions:
1. do I need root?
2. did you check DVB-T as well? (the stick can DAB & DVB-T)

Thanks
Markus

Thanks Michael, confirmed working...:)

I just need to find a decent internal DAB antenna now as the one which came with USB adaptor was very weak, even on the roof.

I had to drive to the top of a hill to get a decent reception..

Thanks again..:good:

Based on your video it looks like you've got an e46, I'll be picking one up soon so if you come up with a good antenna solution let me know!

I have root through a custom Rom. If you have a stock Rom with Android 4.4 go to factorysettings press *#hct#root# and you got temp root, install superSU and you got Perm root. :)
I didn't check DVB-T. In Thuringia are only a few Channels from ARD/ZDF. I don't need them in my Car. :)

I tried allready with the code, but can't install superSU or SU?

Nevertheless I ordered the stick and will give it a try.

With my Joying Rk3188 1024x600 Android 4.4 Stock Rom the Code worked perfect. :) But it should work without root.

So got my DAB USB today, but only get 3 stations (the strongest in my region).

Could it be because of the crappy antenna?

Just wondering what the options for adding DAB functionality to an Android head unit are - The FM reception on my unit is very poor.

    Hi all

ive read all 12 pages on here and wanting to get better Radio on my Eonon GA5153 model, running Mal's 4.4 ROM. I was given an improve Dual Fakra cable from the supplier but since ive had the unit/new cable the radio has not been up to mark. In some areas it will work OK but most times whilst driving the signal will fade in and out constantly so ita really pointless so i tend to go online radio or mp3's, but sometimes u just want to listen to radio nomrally like i did on the RCD 310 hence me posting.....

Having read the threads here i see many going via the USB DAB options......my only question is will my current car Aerial (VW MK6 Golf (2009)). fit one of these usb devices as the connections are different..if yes i guess i would need to get some sort of a adapter? If not i guess i will need to get a DAB aerial and mount it somewhere in the car....

Also anyone here from UK have managed to get it working properly, i understand it wont be 100% but if its better than my current setup im happy to spend the money..

Ive attached a pic of my current Aerial cable and the back of my old RCD 310 - which im sure wasnt a DAB unit. So i am not sure if the current aerial i have will block the signal if i got one of the USB dongles as i understand its for a normal AM/FM connection and most probably placed Horizontally too.

it would be good to know which DAB device and aerial to get for the UK (london region).

would be happy to hear back from someone ....

Hi, I purchased the Joying usb DAB unit for my Pumpkin head unit and a stick on window antenna( i think Halfords do them) and it works fine for me and i live in a pretty rural area of North Wales.

Yes, i have a mx not a joying. It works on any Android Device, even on my telephone with otg kabel

I've noticed a lot of these units come with the DAB App pre-installed. One question, will any DAB adapter work? I notice the one in @Icefeldt is quite chunky, whereas the OP uses a box the size of a tiny dongle.

    Is it hardware specific?
