[ADDON] N7100ToNote2LTE Patch (aroma) v1.3b 07OCT (formerly DN4 v2 for N7105 addon)

hello,

it's been a long time since this thread was last updated, as well as the addon

now, after thousands of hours' hard work, especially by @rasido and his testers around the world who speaks different languages, we finally arrived at a stage to release the new addon for turning a custom N7100 ROM into our Note II LTE's (including N7105/E250K/E250L/E250S) within seconds

** FOR PREVIOUS ADDON 1.1 for DN4 N7105 please goto post #3

ABOUT:
- makes it possible to run any N7100 custom TW ROMs on your Note II LTE (cm/aosp not supported)
EDIT: miui (samsung based) is supported (please read below)
- fixes no signal/data network/gps and other problems in one single addon patch
- installs/reinstalls CSC files

FEATURES:
- adds/replaces the required system files for the LTE model
- replaces with updated mali drivers required by some 4.x.x kernel for some custom ROMs (thanks @psndna88)
- installs CSC files from a huge CSC list for 136 regions/areas/countries/carriers

INSTALLATION:
- install a N7100 rom of you choice and DO NOT REBOOT or otherwise it may bootloop (reboot into recovery again in this case)
- install the addon (in zip format) in the recovery
- choose the desire option for the below actions (all optional):

1/. to patch the system files for the LTE models
2/. to install the updated mali drivers
3/. to install a CSC of your choice (pick the most appropriate one from the list for kitkat/jellybean)

- you will need to install a proper Note II LTE kernel and/or modem for your device, there is NO KERNEL/MODEM INCLUDED in this addon
- reboot and enjoy

NOTE:
- if you see a blank screen only after reboot (no samsung logo and no boot animation), you probably need to select (check) to install the updated mali drivers (not selected by default). just re-run the installer and choose yes in the update Mali drivers page

Notes for E250x models:
- it is suggested to get the WIDzard Kernel for TouchWiz by @Strawberry_dev at https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/sunhoKim/Kernel
- and the modified Philz Recovery by @Strawberry_dev also at https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/sunhoKim/Recovery

COMPATIBILITIES:
- tested with all (almost) N7100 TW ROMs available on xda's N7100 development section (for android 4.3 or 4.4.2, may not work for android 4.4.4 ROMs)
- although we have tried to make this addon a generic one, there are chances that this addon may fail to work with some specific ROMs. we cannot guarantee this addon will work for all ROMs nor all carriers around the world

** for miui stock samsung based Note2Lte version, please read this post for how to avoid com.android.phone FC and bring back gps as well as phone calls **

hi all

a long story but i will keep it short

i finally made the DN4 (android 4.4.4), originally created by the eteam for N7100, to work on our Note 2 LTE. this is only an addon patch that allows you to make phone calls, surf the internet, etc as we used to be with our note 2 lte but now a bit different - we can do that with DN4!

i am glad that i can share this to all 7105 users finally. Enjoy!

ANNOUNCEMENT:

please read the announcements or important information about the current status of this addon before installing. thank you

DISCLAIMER:

THIS IS NOT a standalone port or mod, nor a complete rom but REQUIRES DN4 installation pack from the eteam
this addon only serves as an extra patch for having DN4 v2 7105/LTE works on the note 2 lte model with LTE connection and gps but nothing else
all materials contained in this addon are subject to the sharing policies laid down by the eteam, thus any reproduction or redistribution is prohibited
the inclusion of the kernel, AGNi pureSTOCK N7105, as well as the new mali drivers in this addon is permitted by the original developer psndna88, please consult him before using it for other purposes
due to the sharing policies, i can only provide support for what i have shared. please visit eteam or psndna88's thread for other suppports
i cannot make any other modifications or additional features which may compromise eteam's sharing policies

NOTE:

you need to download DN4 v2 7105 LTE installation files/updates from the eteam's DN4 thread as base files for this addon
only tested on my note 2 lte GT-N7105, i cannot guarantee this works for other note 2 lte variants as well and no support will be provided
only tested with AGNI pure stock kernel v4.3 (included)
since bootloader downgrade is not possible, i have only tested with a 4.4.2 bootloader which i upgraded weeks ago
you are probably free to choose a modem of your choice, however, it is suggested to keep your current modem if in doubt

SCREENSHOTS:

WHAT TO EXPECT:

a working DN4 with phone call, data network (LTE/GSM, etc) and GPS function properly

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT:

modded or ported files from DN4
frequent updates
fancy installations
bugs free experiences
problems will be solved quickly/ultimately
individual/feature requests (i will listen, but no promise)
request/mod that compromise the sharing policies

KNOWN PROBLEMS:

~~calls forwarding status is not checked or shown in the status bar when the phone boots up~~ FIXED in v1.1
~~the signal bar icon in the status bar does not reflect signal strength~~ FIXED in v1.1
~~gps works but no locking~~ FIXED in v1.1
~~ONLY CWM recovery is supported at this time for installing the addon~~ FIXED in v1.0b

[*] for some users, the gps may not get locked within a reasonable short time (approximately < 1 min for the 1st lock, within a few seconds thereafter without reboot). there are some possible fixes here but i cannot guarantee they are 100% safe. currently, there is NO ULTIMATE fix for this yet

however, u may try the quick fix below which is safe and relatively easy

1 backup your efs in recovery
2 do a data and system nandroid backup of your current dn4
3 odin flash the system.img or restore a system nandroid backup of a stock rom with working gps
4 let it boot until u see the setup wizard
5 reboot into recovery (not stock recovery) and restore the backup at point 1 above

remember to make a backup first
I WILL NEVER format your partition or wipe anything for you (except reformat util), please do it yourself if needed
download the DN4 v2 7105 LTE installation file, and any other updates if applicable, from eteam's thread, read the instructions/howto provided by eteam before installing
install the DN4 v2 7105 LTE installation file, DO NOT REBOOT after the installation is finished
install all DN4 v2 7105 LTE update files if any (can be done within the same recovery session), and DO NOT REBOOT your phone yet
choose to install the DN4 v2 7105 LTE Addon file, it will patch the system and other necessary files, as well as a 7105 kernel for you
once finished, reboot the phone and enjoy
NOTE my addon MUST be the LAST ONE to install, or you will have a non completed installation

couldnt find DN4 v2 7105 installation file on eteam's web site
it's a bit tricky that some menu items are not shown in some pages, try goto their main page and get the links from the menu there at http://electron-team.com/index.html
kernel not installed properly from the addon or black (blank) screen after boot
make sure you have wiped your system and data partition before (excluding /data/media, aka /sdcard)
can i unzip the addon and put all the files into the DN4 installation or update zip files?
it is NOT suggested to extract the addon
in the addon file there are some scripts for replacing/patching the original files come with DN4 installation and update files
if you are familiar with the installation script (updater-script) and shell scripts then u can do that if you want to, but make sure you also make all the changes manually that supposed to be done by the scripts
otherwise, do not do this as this may cause bootloops or situation can get even worse
i don like the kernel included in the addon file, can i use other kernels?
only the included kernel has been tested, while you can use other kernels at your own risks
can i install this addon with other variants like at&t, t mobile etc? do you plan to make this addon works with other variants as well?
initially only global version GT-N7105 is supported officially. other variants like I317 (AT&T and T-Mobile) are reported as compatible as well, while for the rest, there may be compatibility issues and not tested yet. i will try to make it works with other variants but no promise as i don own such devices and thus cant test it myself. however, this addon should be compatible most note 2 lte variants, except verizon atm
which bootload should i use? can i stick with the 4.1.2 bootloader?
only tested with 4.4.2 bootloader. however, users reported 4.1.2 bootloader is working fine too
what is OPEN version means? which one should i choose?
the normal version contains a device model checking which will reject non T0LTE (GT-N7105) for installing for safety purpose, while the OPEN version does not contain such checking
if your device model is GT-N7105 then choose the normal one if available (without OPEN)
otherwise if you want to install this addon on a non GT-N7105 device, you should choose the OPEN version. however, since the installation wont check for a valid device model, you may risk flasing a wrong kernel and can cause damages to your phone. so do it at your own risks!

Can u explain on how does this work and installation procedure in details... Thanks... Bcoz as far as i know, having to flash n7100 rom on n7105 might risk of having bricked device as the specification of hardware is total difference...

I just want to say I hope EVERYONE who installs dn4 comes to this thread and gives thanks to @ykkfive. He is the one responsible for getting dn4 working for you so he deserves all the credit. I hope everyone understands it's xda rules on selective sharing that have been the issue nothing else.

I'm sure ykkfive can explain in more detail, but from my experience: DN4 doesn't have bootloader or a modem in the ROM, and will flash to your device without risk of brick. I've flashed DN4 myself (AT&T Note II) and it boots and runs perfectly, just no baseband.

The idea of this addon getting DN4 working on LTE has me drooling...

Well, the addon isn't available yet

Anyway, flashing Dn4 for n7100 would not brick any N7105, you would just have a working phone with no baseband, but you could simply restore your previous backup (it is strongly recommended to have one!) or flashing a stock rom with odin. Custom rom don't include any bootloader (it would be impossible) and most of them don't come with any modem, so flashing Dn4 for n7100 wouldn't remove your N7105 modem.

Regarding how to flash the addon, if you look at the OP you can see that you must flash the Dn4 rom and, without rebooting, the addon too. It comes with the agni kernel along, so you can use the rom and the addon and have working wifi even if you are on the old 4.1.2 bootloader.

Edit: sorry, cross posting!

no worries, mate. it depends on what u r going to flash or install

I have studied the installation script (updater-script), the partition numbers for system, boot, data, cache are identical, ie both are pointing to the same partition number, unlike s3 3g and lte version. actually it will be better to use the partition names. more, I have included a 7105 kernel to overwrite the 7100 kernel for u guys so that users don have to care about this

of coz I wouldn't take the risk to install it with the zip at the 1st time but install the files myself
