I've got the weekend off, and my phone's a Sensation. I know my way around a terminal, and am fluent in HTML/CSS and bits of PHP/SQL. Otherwise noob to actually building code apart from premade make.sh scripts.

But who cares?! Let's see if I can't brick my phone!

I was all set and ready to go for it when two (2) things occurred: Dad and I went to a car show; and I realized I no longer had a working Ubuntu Box since I had sold the old laptop I was using for XBMC. I have downloaded the necessary files and will try for it again this weekend though.

I think this project deserves to be reborn. Ubuntu touch seems awesome. I would like it if at the least we could just flash the .zip files in recovery like we do with regular roms.

I thought this news would be positive, its a step towards it not being reliant on booting from android. Would this make it easer to create a Ubuntu 'ROM', i.e. one that can be flashed like others?

I'm not a dev and I have limited knowledge of roms, but I don't think that helps us with the packaging very much. In fact, I don't think it should be that hard to create a flashable ubuntu rom. All you need is someone who knows what they're doing.

Ah well, suppose it still need further development in terms of the os by ubuntu themselves to make it fully functional/stable.

Local manifest? We don't use that. We use our own tree at Evervolv.

Don't know to be honest. Just released this for the lulz. But meh, I'm going to review the 3.4 kernel and see if I can get it running.

That would be really awesome, as only one other developer has tried. At the least could you package everything into a recovery flashable zip file?

Bruces build from 06 march uses ion. But its CM10 not CM10.1

Try talking to @DennisBold and @android1234567... they're trying to boot AOSP on 3.4
