Hey!

So I got a 1 month salary bonus and I'm planning to get a tablet since I don't have!
My wife has an ipad mini and I like it a lot!
I like ipad amazing number of optimized apps!
I was thinking about the ipad air 2 wifi only since finally it's the first ipad with a respectable 2GB ram!
The 16GB version is for 480$ and the 64GB version is for around 640$!
I'm very very very hesitant to get the 16GB version but the 64GB is also out of my budget range!
16GB on a retina ipad would be filled very fast, even if I don't store photos, videos and music on it! Apps alone and big games will certainly do this! I can see this clearly from my wife's non retina ipad mini!!!

Now to come to the 2nd part of the confusion!
Once I discovered the price issue, I turned my eyes to the android world again since we have expandable storage and more ram!
Last time I had an android tablet was the Galaxy note 10.1 (N8000) 2013 version.
I liked it but the lack of good optimized apps made it a bad experience!
Heck even facebook app wasn't optimized and looked ugly! I guess that's the most common app on mobile devices!
The galaxy note 10.1 (P601) 2014 version looks sweet on paper with the specs! Spen with 3GB ram, 300ppi display, snapdragon S800, multitasking etc... is sweet!
However with bad selection of apps, that would be kind of useless!

Now my thoughts are:
What do you think about this situation? What would you do?
What about android apps for tablets nowadays?! Did they get any better? Are all the most common apps optimized for tablets?
Last time I checked was in 2013!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The Note 10.1 (2014) has a 400 DPI or so. Also it has a Samsung processor in it. There are a good selection of apps.
