I got an aftermarket charger in my area since original ones were not available. It says on the label though it's for Galaxy Tab but the max amp is 2100mA min 150mA and the usual 5volts. Is it safe to use even if the original one says 2000A?

Just some cell phone shop in my area. My original question was I was asking if it's safe to use even if it has higher amps.

technically, its ok to charge at a higher amperage, it would just entail that you would be able to charge it faster.

but there might be a risk of overheating the battery during charging and that might lead to problems in the long run.

on the other hand, 100mA wouldn't be much of a difference.

It will be perfectly fine. The units charging circuitry will only use as much current it requires, heck you could charge it from a 10Amp 5volt supply with no troubles. I have used in the past an old pc power supply rigged up to some usb sockets to charge various usb devices without any trouble. They are capable of supplying upwards of 20amp @ 5volt. :p

Btw, i am a qualified electronics technician of 12years experience, i have experimented a LOT. :)

Sharing link to aftermarket charger

Hi guys

Share my aftermarket charger with you all
http://www.wsdeal.com/ID321W/YXT023_US_2_in_1_Micro_Home_USB_Charger_with_Charge_Syne_Cable_for_Apple_iPadiPhone_4G3GS_White.ws

  1. Takes 4 hours to charge from 10% to 100%.
  2. Shows "CHARGING" word

Below 2A charger does NOT work on SGT, shows "NOT CHARGING"
  1. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/powerhub-4-port-usb-charger-p19416.htm
  2. http://www.chinavold.com/dual-usb-p...e-ipod-eu-plug-with-charging-cable-p-196.html

Although both says 2000mA, but does NOT work on SGT, I was lucky the retailer let me trial-run at home.
Results = takes 10 hours to charge from 10% to 100% same like notebook or desktop USB with software upgraded (USB fast charging from ASRock) tested on ASRock mobo and Thinkpas T60.

Make sure to buy only when box PRINTS for GALAXY Tab !!!

2A chargers will work with the SGT, but you need an adapter like these that I bought.

Reason is the ones that says "For Galaxy Tab" chargers have resistors soldered to the usb port allowing the SGT to know it's connected to an AC adapter and to pull the full amount of power it needs. The adapters have the resistors in them allowing u to use any cheap charger. It allows you to charge with a standard computer/laptop usb port as well. I think it's supposed to charge faster than the trickle charge you get without the adapter but I have yet to try it out. There's another thread that goes into way more detail about it and even how to solder your own resisters to make your own adapters. Think it was this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844&highlight=usb+charge

Hi Ricey

Correcto, my post can help anyone who wants a 2nd charger to be permanent in office or etc

And most importantly not buy the regular 2A without the resistors inside.
