AJK Q&A

I would like to know an effective way to log these events myself.
It's supposed to be in /proc/last_kmsg, but on my phone the last_kmsg is not present. If present, it would be:

Code:
cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/last_kmsg.txt

Try this:
Load my profile (Topiratiko tuned)
...
Would this be appropriate for SHOstock3, or is there something in there specific to AOSP?

Should be fine although I have never stayed on non aosp ROM more than 10 minutes.

Try this:
Load my profile (Topiratiko tuned)
Change Scaling max suspend freq to 800000mhz
Then under governor awake settings change up threshold to 88 (from 92)
OK, did this. Only, after setting Topiratiko tuned as the profile, Scaling max suspend freq was already 800000 kHz. Appearantly it's the default in this profile? Anyway, in a few days we'll see what happens. I'm not going to do any other tweaks, for now.

(I think I forgot to fix permissions the first time.)
You are guaranteed to have problems if you don't do this. Personally i wipe cache and dalvik and fix permissions every 3-4 days just for good measure (and bc I'm just a little ocd).

I could use a little help getting tweaks to stick as I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. There are just a few changes I like to make with the default kernel. I change the awake cpu to zzmove, turn on slide to wake, change the gain to +3 db, and maybe some other things I'm forgetting (but nothing major). I don't know what it is, but recently, maybe the last few builds, I make these changes, they work for a bit but then everything resets (usually after a restart). Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks!

Did you by chance restore a saved profile from an older version when you upgraded to 4.9?

Thanks, I looked for that after reading other posts buried in one of the AJK threads, but last_kmsg isn't present on my phone either (although I DO have kmsg). I had isolated that the kernel change was causing the issue, but I couldn't find the requested last_kmsg, so I laid low. It still isn't clear to me why I wouldn't have last_kmsg at all.

PS: for anyone else who is as adb-operator/log-challenged as i am: [Reference] How to get useful logs

Is logging enabled in stweaks?

Samsung Galaxy S II
CyanogenMod 10.1.3 Stable/AOCP ICEE
AJK BOSS 4.9 Kernel
It is now, yes; but I don't recall whether I had enabled logging back when I was having troubles. Is there a way to intentionally create a last_kmsg log? just as a test.
I'm not clear about this. It may be that the last-kmsg is only generated when there is a kernel panic. I enabled logging, or rather I set ANDROID LOGGER CONTROL to DEBUG on the Tweaks tab. But a subsequent reboot did not generate a /proc/last_kmsg. And I don't know if sleep of death is equivalent to a kernel panic either.

@ Cyril279: You don't have to use adb. You can use Android Terminal Emulator on your phone to generate the text log file.

Don't let go screen go off fo 50+ second and it will stick. ....remember. ....cortex brain need this much time
.
Also governor and schedulers. ....not all st tweaks are possible. ...use some tools to explore how they are built-in

Just tested slide to wake RC93
On TW version
..
Works

This seems to work. I could have sworn that I did this anyway but I guess I didn't! Thanks!

Spoke too soon. This did not work. Everything inexplicably reset this morning. Weird. The thing that bothers me most is losing the volume boost. I can't listen to music in my car with the sound set to default. One of the worst things about the i777 is the sound. Wish this thing had the Wolfson DAC!

I've been getting the "Sleep of death" as I see it called here for a while. Just didn't feel like I had compiled enough info to bother reporting it, especially not enough to specifically point a finger at the kernel. Currently using AJK 4.9 on Tasks AOKP. I don't undervolt or screw with the frequency settings so those aren't it. In fact, I just had a SOD a few mins ago and had to hard-reboot using down+power.

Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it. I'm not convinced it's not something my fault or at my end, but considering it's becoming a topic here I figured I'd at least speak up.

Last log, or last_kmsg. That's how you do it. Use an app like SysLog to grab it - very easy.

Funny that you mentioned that app. If I'm running a CM kernel, the last_kmsg option is available in that app, but when running AJK 4.9, that option is not available. Anything special needed to be configured for last_kmsg to be available?
