AJK Q&A

Funny that you mentioned that app. If I'm running a CM kernel, the last_kmsg option is available in that app, but when running AJK 4.9, that option is not available. Anything special needed to be configured for last_kmsg to be available?
That's curious - I'm on running 4.9 on a 4.2.2 rom, and yeah, the option to capture last_kmsg is indeed greyed out, but that could be because there aren't any error messages for it to be generated. Don't know for sure, but that's my guess. Maybe someone with better knowledge can chime in here.

I have catlog. Is that an option I'm missing or do I need to get a different app? Also, what about the next poster's Q?
If you want just the kmsg, then yes you'll need a different app like SysLog.

uhm...Hello!

VERY nice!

Settings? :)
That was the default profile with zzmoove awake gov. The only changes i made to default profile was max CPU 1400 MHz and GPU 5th step set to 330m MHz. Vpll on, of course...

Cooked rom/AJK 4.9

DISCLAIMER: these are not my everyday settings and i don't recommend them unless you don't mind high battery consumption!

I do however keep my CPU max at 1400. My logic there is that while it does use more power than 1200 MHz, tasks finish faster which allows the CPU to get back to idle faster. Everything is very snappy and i don't have any noticeable extra battery loss as opposed to 1200. Also i keep my GPU steps 3-5 at 200 MHz on daily basis.

AdAway app.
I've never really understood or liked the idea of making ad-blocking part of a ROM. It really has no place with a ROM and you don't best-serve the user by sticking them with a dependency on a static hosts file that doesn't get updated unless they update the ROM. It's best done with something like AdAway, which works great, independent of the ROM and is updated frequently and automatically.

It has, indeed!

And not without reason I might add :)

To sum it all up "short & sweet" like: size matters.

It has become VERY difficult to create 1 kernel that will boot on all (or even most) AOSP ROMs due to size limitations. I can make, err actually I have made.. , a kernel that works very well on CM11 - and another that works nicely with OmniROM. But they are both pretty far apart and combining them is proving to be very difficult.

I will keep trying :)

You have no idea how much I'm missing your work on S3 S4 note 2 Note 3 ....there is many good kernel masters out there....
And you are my #1....

That's the truth, I also have a note 2 and haven't found anything to compare to the kernel on my s2.

I have a problem.
On shostock, I can't seem to be able to flash ajk micswap. Everytime I try, it tells me its bad, and aborts installation. I've tried redownloading 3 times all with the same results. Any help?

No idea. How do I check this? When flashing it says nothing about an md5 sum.

Well that's because it doesn't have anything to do with flashing. It's a way to check if a file is what it say it is, for lack of a more educated explanation.

Google it, then go to the play store and get md5 checker. You will need the md5 sum from the place you downloaded AJK

Edit: here

Okay great, I'll do that now, but when I do, what would be the typical solution for this? Using a different recovery? I mean, I'm trying to flash a kernel that's supposed to be compatible with my rom, soooo.....?

That is where I downloaded ajk, and the md5 is that same in your screenshot, but shostock3's is different, so what's the problem here?
