All:

Thought I should alert everyone:

I purchased a Barely There case in Mirrored Silver for my HTC Desire HD. While I love the case and the look as well as the design and quality I have discovered a problem. The case blocks GPS signals to the phone! It seems fairly clear the case is the problem. I have tried the same test with several different applications (Google Maps, Compass, HTC Locations, etc...). With the case on, the phone cannot get a GPS lock. Take the case off and it locks on in a few seconds. Put the case back on and it loses it's lock.

I have contacted Case Mate about this issue. I will update this thread with what they tell me!

Funnily enough, I had the very same problem with the Case-Mate Pop. I'm hearing other cases are capable of interfering with the GPS, so it's not Case-Mate products specifically.

Here's what my Case-Mate Pop is doing to my DHD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVh96ffr6z0

I complained to Case-Mate and they just shipped me two different cases free of charge: The Barely There and the Case-Mate Tough. They didn't ask me to ship the Pop back to them. In any event, it looks like I'll have to live with some sort of GPS issue if I want to use any of these cases. Perhaps I'll do a comparison video when I receive the cases.

I wish I had seen a thread like this before buying the barely there mirrored silver case from Casemate last week.

I can also confirm that the case destroys my GPS signal. How did you go about contacting them and getting a replacement case?

Wow, I'm glad I saw this! I have the glossy white, but wanted the silver. I should have known better, as I had a silver case for my ye olde Noklia 3310 back "in the day" and it killed the signal for just about everything (which back then was just calls and messages).

I bought a case-mate silver case from eBay. It does indeed block GPS signal but unfortunately I found this out few months later after I bought it.
Do you guys think there is a point complaining to Case-Mate or to an eBay seller at this point?

I would complain directly to Case-Mate as they may send you a different one. At least if they respect their customers.
