I broke my usb charging port accidentally :(
Fortunately, i have battery charger with two batteries
Now, I have one question can I flash kernels from the phone without the computer?

still begging for Bluetooth on xperia play

This isn't the place for begging. If you want something fixed then fix it yourself or be patient.
I had 0 free time to work on semc since last build, plus debugging these issues is becoming very hard
because the wifi/bt drivers for these devices are no longer actively developed.

The user complaints, lack of development and the whole sdcard corruption mess are making me
want to stop public releases on xda and just maintain the source trees.

oh well... he is actually right.. if he had time don't you think you would have seen the fix? he isn't keeping fixes for himself obviously as you can see... just be patient... he is doing his absolute best! Cheers :)

Not sure that my method have enough science behind it to be called "testing" :) I use YouTube app and MX Player for the comparison.
  • cm11: both apps are silky smooth, video seeking is fast (less that 1s);
  • cm12: YouTube app- video playback stutters (at start and while playing), takes more time to load. Seeking time in both apps is more than 1s;
  • cm13: slightly better than cm12 - video stutters only at the beginning, seeking time is as good as in cm11.
With ART runtime instead of Dalvik we freed some of CPU resources, but with /data partition on a sd card it's no use because most of the time CPU is waiting for io.

cm13 uses more RAM for system apps and makes a heavy use of zram. My guess that when you doing something in the browser the cpu constantly compresses/decompresses pages. And when you playing videos there are more strain on the cpu -> more heat...
P.S. Playing videos in browser is not for our devices. I suggest you to use YouTube app, or better NewPipe (thanks to @blueman24).

Thank you for your reply!
To be honest, I find CM13 a little more sluggish than CM12.1, although do not have any benchmarks to objectively prove this. Granted, CM13 is still relatively new, and there have only been a few builds put out by mike so far, so perhaps things will gradually improve with maturity. That being said, I like that the phone dialer delay/latency that affected CM12.1 is gone in CM13. Generally speaking, I still think it's incredible that our underpowered little devices from 2011 are still able to run the latest OS in 2016, so am grateful to mike and all the devs involved with LX.

I have tried NewPipe and applaud the developers efforts - video playback is very fast and smooth. However, while I do not subscribe to a channel, I watch its updated content daily (Young Turks), and unfortunately there does not appear to be a way to sort search results by date - or at least, the search does not include videos uploaded in the past 24 hours or so.

This afternoon I watched some more videos via the browser and the phone became incredibly warm in just a few minutes. I appreciate that watching YouTube clips via the browser is not recommended on our older devices, however I'm still curious as to why this is so much more taxing in CM13 than CM12.1.

Cheers,
James

What do you think about dropping CM11 development? Isn't it 'good enough' to make a final build? This would save you some time.

Since cm13 isnt stable enough for some ppl, supporting cm11 for a while with cve updates is a good choice. We already dropped cm12/12.1 to have more time for cm13.

DAMN straight bro.
What do people expect when running MM on 5 year old phones?
If people are still using one of these Legacy Xperia's then they can use KK CM11. It works like butter and is still supported. If they decide to flash CM13, then they should be prepared to live with bugs.

Thanks to everyone involved in LX. Let it be know that your work is really appreciated.

How do i get the most out of XPERIA PLAY regarding feature completeness and multitasking?
What about swapfile/swappartition?
Better go with CM11 as it uses less RAM?

On Xperia Play i recommend you to use vanilla firmware with working slide-out.
Using LX on this device is pointless, it's like using rom that doesn't support qwerty slider on xperia pro.
(Don't get me wrong, i'm fully support LX, but not on that device)

I am not sure what you're talking about. I have been using LX CM for over 2 years on my Xperia Pro (with slide-out qwerty keyboard) and everything works just fine. Haven't had any issues with the keyboard.
Granted, I haven't tried CM13 yet, but CM10 and CM11 work very well and I have no reason to expect less from newer LX CM releases.

This is an unofficial build of CM13.0.
This is an attempt to stay close to official cm13.0 and not make crazy hacks to make things working.

This is a pure CM build, only contains official CM features. I will not add any other external feature/app/etc.

WARNING: This ROM uses a modified internal memory layout.
Our /system partition is originally 400MB but this space is not enough for a fluid experience and a full installation with proper google apps.
The internal storage has been repartitioned to give the whole space to /system & /cache. Your SD card will be used as the /data partition and emulated media storage like all modern devices.

Partition your SD card with exactly 1 partition. ALL DATA WILL BE LOST. Backup anything you need.
Basically, you need a normal SD card; if you repartitioned for Lollipop, you must revert that.
Format to F2FS or ext4 (F2FS is the new standard), or
if the partition is unformatted or FAT32, then it will automatically be formatted with F2FS later.
You can use Partition Wizard (Win) or GParted (Linux).

If you want to use this ROM you will always have to use the included kernel or use a kernel that includes the layour changes. Bug reports with non-standard kernels will be ignored.
You will have to wipe the device and make a clean install.
You cannot restore nandroid backups from previous android versions or restore backups from this ROM to other ROMs that don't use the new partition layout since you risk corrupting the data.
I suggest to use Titanium Backup, Helium or any other similar app to backup your data if you really need to.

    Requirements:
    * Have the stock ICS 4.1.B.0.587 full ftf flashed (doesn't matter if you have flashed it in the past or if you flash it before installing cm13.0, it will work both ways)
    * LT15i (Arc) users need to flash LT18i (Arc S) ftf
    * MT15i (Neo) users need to flash MT11i (Neo V) ftf
    * You need a fast SD card with good random read/write (usually class 10 or higher).

Steps required for correct installation (order is important):
1: Flash boot.img in fastboot & reboot into recovery
2 (optional): If the device is not booting, reboot to bootloader again and run:
    fastboot erase system
    3: Enter recovery
4: Format /system, then /data and then /cache (Important step!)
    5: Flash update zip
    6: Flash gapps

You need to flash gapps before booting into the ROM for the first time, else critical permissions will not be granted and you will have constant crashes, requiring a factory reset.

Steps 2, 4, 6 are not needed when you install new LX build on top of an older one in the future

If you want to return to a ROM that doesn't use the new partition layout, you need to follow the above steps again (only replace boot.img & update zip with the ones you want to use).

After the recent 20161025 CM-11.0 release some donations have come in to support the VPS server. (It's hosting Gerrit to manage changes and future releases for LegacyXperia).

These donations are much appreciated, thanks everyone who donated! If you haven't yet, but would still like to materialize a 'thanks' to Mike and LegacyXperia, please feel free to donate here :good:
