So I tried to get this working for hours now, but my redmi note 7 is always listed as unrecognized device or as a broken MTP device. Can anyone just point me to the right drivers? I installed like a thousand of them and it's still not working my win10 pc won't recognize my note 7 at all.
So far I installed the qualcom driver, android driver using the all in one tool v1.43, MiFlash since it comes with drivers, Mi Suite.
I'm also in test mode all the time.

EDIT: Somehow managed to get it working and connecting in bootloader mode, looks like this is where the waiting game starts, said something about waiting 168 hours...

PS C:\Users\lenovo s500\Desktop\RN7\usb_driver> >>fastboot devices<<

spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

This is the 2nd time I've heard someone ask about the possiblity of IMEI be wiped since the beginning of Redmi Note 7 forums. The 1st time was someone from Syria or Turkey (I can't remember exactly). Maybe yes when your device is shipped faulty or you have a very bad luck. The process of unlocking bootloader and rooting is generally very safe. Just do step by step as directed and you'll be fine.

Cheers! :fingers-crossed:

If my phone is shipped with china rom, should i update it with only china firmware? Can i use latest global firmware for this phone or will that brick my device? (Changing custom rom)

This wouldn't brick your device. I bought a note 7 for my brother in Nigeria but I did tr he hard work before sending it to him. I unlocked the bootloader after 15days, installed twrp and then installed the xiaomi.eu rom. It may look scary but it's very doable and yeah, u cant actually brick the phone. People that brick their phones must be doing something outside of the scope of the tutorial on here. All my years I have only ever bricked an LG but it really wasn't my fault, the stupid g2 decided to slow down for no reason and I tried to install Lineage or something to give it hope alas I think I over did it but that was a model that wasnt meant to have a bootloader unlock, the redmi note 7 is supported directly by xiaomi for bootloader unlocks so you would be fine

I had the same problem on windows 10. I managed to do it on a windows 7 virtual machine. Now I have to wait for a few days to unlock the bootloader. :)

Unfortunatelly the waiting time varies from person to person and also which smarphone model we are talking about. Until now the longest time I waited to unlock a bootloader was 72h. In Xiaomi forums people are reporting that they are waiting btw. 72h - 720h, sometimes even more than 1000h.
i just got the device couple hours ago as i unlocked bootloader there was no waiting time? So how is that possible that i didnt get wait time? These things can be frustrated some times.

Hi guys today I decided to go for it. I am far over the 168 hours (1 week) I had to wait. SO I used my girlfriend's Laptop which has Windows 10 on it and I downloaded the newest xiaomi unlock app 3.5.724.32.
I successfully installed the drivers and went into fastboot mode. I start the app, I log in, it checks my permissions (I have a 100 points on my xiaomi account, full permissions to unlock and my phone number is linked to the account!) and then brings me to the final screen where I COULD hit "Unlock". But no matter what I do the Unlock button keeps being deactivated.

EDIT: It worked Wuhuuuu! After many reboots of Windows and driver reinstalls my bootloader is finally unlocked. I downloaded TWRP from the original post and I am flashing it with fastboot right now.

EDIT2: Flashing TWRP worked. I flashed Magisk 19.3 over USB-OTG. Manually Wiped (Factory reset) and dalvik and cache. Now my system wont boot HELP!!!!!!
