1) Yes. Official unlock loses track id.
2) Walkman, sony select (AFAIK), and timescape still work. Not track ID

There are other ways to root, you can downgrade from 7.0.A.3.195 to 7.0.A.1.303 and root using bin4rys method. Then DO NOT upgrade.

If you want latest firmware you must unlock bootloader
I had previously unlocked the bootloader of my XS and Track ID still worked fine. I have heard that album info download will not work with an unlocked bootloader though. I think many others have confirmed that TrackID still works with unlocked bootloader. Personally I never experienced anything not working but I did not load music on my phone and try to have it download album info.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to put the info you've given me on unlocking the bootloader in the noob guide? It was information that I found hard to verify ir corroborate until now, and I'm guessing there are probably a few people out there who would like a definitive reference for the info.

Its all on the sony website. I dont think there is any need to replicate it here. Its the first hit in a google search for
"Unlock bootloader sony"

But I will add a warning to the guide that people should be aware of potential performance/warrenty issues if they unlock

Flashtool problems when entering flashmode

I'm trying to install the latest firmware LT30p_7.0.A.3.195_UK Generic.ftf on my Xperia T using Flashtool.
It's currently on 7.0.A.1.303 rooted, with locked bootloader.

I am using Windows 8 and installed the following drivers from C:\Flashtool\Drivers.
Xperia TX, Flashmode and Fastboot

I did this using advanced restart mode where I disabled driver verification and they all installed successfully (with the green tick marks afterwards).
The Flashtool window seems to think all the drivers are installed properly, as it recognises my device when it's connected to the pc in "normal" mode.

When I try to connect in flashmode, Flashtool says it's connected in flashmode but this only lasts a few seconds before I get a Windows notification of "USB device is not recognised". This suggests some kind of driver installation error, is there one I have missed? The phone then leaves flashmode and goes to the charging via USB screen.

Note I also have PC companion installed and it does work. Flashtool log attached.

Hope you guys can help! Really want to get on the latest firmware and try out new ROMs.

there are issues with the drivers and windows 8 but your post seems to imply you havegot round that. I suggest you you goto flashtool folder driver and run drivers.exe and make sure you choose the T. TX and nxt options.

Where are the T,TX and nxt options? I only have the TX one available. It says flashtool drivers 1.0.2 at the top.

Ok, Hi.
I try to create ftf file on my new firmware .195, but in folder blob_fs i have 4 files with name FILE********............
I delete all files and repair from Pc Companion, but these 4 files show again.
I see thread with How to create FTF file, but there have only 3 files.

Some time ago when I was doing this file my other phone Arc S, i have only 3 files after update and no problems to create ftf file for Arc S.
Now i delete again, but same result.
What files are use from 4 files to create new ftf file on new firmware?

Thanks in advance.

use the 4 files. The extra file is an update file for the S1 boot.

Just do the TX ones then

Sent from the future on my Star Trek communicator.
Sent from my LT30p using XDA premium.
Already got the TX one. Guess I will have to wait till there is a root exploit for the new 195 firmware or the drivers in flashtool are updated to work with Windows 8. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

You only need the two largest files in the blob_fs folder to create the ftf.

True, but the fourth file is the updated s1 boot (As reported by Bin4ry) so if you want to include the latest updates you need all 4 of the largest files.

EDIT
I was under the impression that without the updated S1 boot you needed the largest 3 files anyway? Thats what the guide says that Ihave linked to in this thread..

Didn't read that one about the S1 boot file. As for without it I've always made my ftf files with only the two biggest files (ion, XS, XP, and TL) and haven't had any issues.

If you use just two files, you have to choose your device manually in flashtool, but with the three of them you don't have to choose anything, as flashtool will identify the device automatically.
