Already got the TX one. Guess I will have to wait till there is a root exploit for the new 195 firmware or the drivers in flashtool are updated to work with Windows 8. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
It works fine for me on Windows 8 64-bit, but I couldn't get it to work on my windows 7 machine for some reason.

Even in flashmode? I have an Xperia T, locked bootloader which connects fine in normal mode but not flashmode.

Any ideas how to uninstall the flashmode driver and try again?

in win 8, is it the same as win 7?
Goto device manager and uninstall the driver, then reinstall them via flashtool.

You may also try to download the fastboot package I have linked in the all in one thread on how to enter fastboot, there are usb drivers in there for connecting phones...they may help

To install the drivers in Windows 8, I right clicked the .inf of the Android skd/extras/usb folder and clicked install.

PC Companion just offered me 7.0.A.3.197 (Xperia T, T-Mobile NL Skyfall pack). Now I'm reading up on creating the backup ftf before proceeding but one thing is not completely clear to me. Following the guide the ftf you end up with is of the updated firmware, right? It's not a backup of the current 7.0.A.1.303 fw on the phone?

If you have not yet downloaded the update, then the ftf will be the old firmware.
If you have downloaded the update then yes it will be the new firmware, you should have made a backup ftf of the old firmware before you were offered the update.
However, I think there is an old ftf for that firmware in post 3

It is good practice to make an ftf as soon as you update, so you have a copy of your clean, stock rom to backup upto.

The phone came with 303 installed so I have not updated before, therefore there are no files to create the ftf from. The ftf's in post 3 for T-Mobile (Skyfall) are for Germany but these should be pretty much the same I think (execpt maybe APNs and such).

Bump

Lots of news

New method to install CMW recovery for phones with locked bootloader (But you must be rooted so its for older firmware only)

New .ftf's

New Roms (Including my first effort for T and TX)

New tutorials on rooting/unlocking/flashing custom ROM's

Many thanks to all contributers and to all people who point out to me worthwhile threads to link to this one.

Enjoy

So I guess from reading some more there's no way to create an ftf from a running firmware? Only from the files left after update with PCC/SUS.
One option to be able to go back to this firmware would be to install CWM and create nandroid-backup. Then in case I want to go back: flash generic .303, install CWM and restore nandroid. If anybody could confirm this I'm ready to rock.

My bootloader is unlockable but I'm a little hesitant to unlock cause I might be getting a Nexus 4 in a few months if LG decide to release it in the Netherlands and would be nice to sell the phone with full warranty.
Might well be I decide to keep the T because in the week I've owned it I've grown to love it more and more, especially now that I see development is picking up.

this seems a bit long winded...why not just flash the .303 or .195 as you want it

I agree it's not an easy route but it seems to be the only way to keep both the Skyfall pack and T-Mobile branding in case I want to sell it.

So I should have done the repair/upgrade process before the .3.197 was available, then it would've worked?

Edit: silly me. In case I want to root without unlocking I could use any .303 and else I can use the ftf I create after the .197 upgrade to keep original branding

That would be nice. Did manage to get the .197 myself so not really necessary but just for the sake of completeness add 'em to the thread as Greg said
