Hi folks please forgive me if this question was answered in on eof the previous threads but I cannot find the answer. I have a Verizon Note 2 rooted with Verizon stock ROM. I have EFS instlled and I was able to go to the folder with the carrier setting and changed it to on. Now when I try to enter *#27663368378# to get to the service mode hidden menu nothing happens. I am able to get to the other hidden menus but not the one that can give me access to the carrier freq. settigns can anyone advise as to what the issue might be?

Thanks
Will Note3 codes work on the Note2?

- Rooted.
- Don't know ADB but I guess it'sthis: http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
- I don't have Google + but I am sure that I can create and account.

I have Skype and sometimes I have used other remote desktop control utilities.
Do you have a clean/working copy of your EFS? I will create a special tar for you to flash with Odin. Are you familiar with Odin? Are you still having this issue?

Thanks for helping out, and sorry for the late reply but I'm travelling in the UK with very sporadic internet connection so I'll get back at you after July 16th when I'll be back home.

I am on root and I am familiar with Odin and I used it a few times to flash some stock firmware from Samsung's firmware update page (4.4.2) but I didn't do much else so I think that my EFS is clean and working (I hope). I read here that there is an App called EFS pro that can back up my EFS, right?

Again, thank you. I really appreciate your time/skills and I'll get back at you in a fortnight.

Update on Verizon Note II not able to access Freq ServiceMode

Folks I wanted to post this update for anyone that might find it helpful. So after researching this issue I thought it would be best for me to upgrade the phone to the Verizon 4.4.2 ROM and to my surprise the one ServiceMode for setting frequencies is now viewable. I had a feeling that the 4.3 Rom was setup to prevent people from access this hidden menu. If anyone that has a Verizon phone and wants to upgrade their Note II to the same ROM I did just let me know and I will post the link to the site I got it from it is suppose to be the official Verizon ROM. But like everyone else I claim nothing and you are to use it at your own risk. Thanks to everyone that posted responses and to those who were willing to help out. Happy Independence Day to all.

Having problems getting into service mode

Thought I'd start a thread to compile everything we know about "ServiceMode" into a single thread, rather than having to go all over the place to find stuff.

What I know as of now:

As of now, I'm aware that you can enable access to the ServiceMode on a rooted VZW Note 3 by editing the /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu file and changing it from OFF to ON (uppercase is required).

For unrooted Note 3's, some have said there are some apps on the play store that will access the ServiceMode, but I have not been able to confirm these work.

Once ServiceMode access is enabled:

*#27663368378# takes you to the main menu where you can change various settings...most of which I don't know what they're for.

---Tips...the 'back button did not work for me and simply closed out of ServiceMode. Use the left 'Menu' key to bring up options, including 'Back'. Also, you can create a contact with the *#27663368378 number (minus the last #) and use that contact to 'copy to dialer' and save yourself from typing that number repeatedly.

To turn off Wifi Power Saving Mode:
Use either code above and at the ServiceMode screen, press the hard menu button, then select Wifi, then press the button under WIFI POWER SAVE MODE to turn it off.

To enable the new AWS band:
*#27663368378# to Main Menu, select [2]UE SETTINGS & INFO, then [1]SETTING, then select [2]SYSTEM, then select [9]NEXT PAGE and then select [4]VZW LTEB4 ON/OFF and finally select [1]B4 ENABLE ()...It should change to [1]B4 ENABLE (*) with an asterisk to show it is the selected option.
-- More information specific to the AWS settings can be found here. Thanks to @milan03

What I'm not sure about:

There is a setting under the RELEASE VERSION CONTROL menu for LTE 3GPP REL 9 and LTE 3GPP REL 10. Mine was set to REL 9, but I changed it to 10 and am going to see what happens. I google LTE 3GPP REL 10 and found some documentation. Not sure why I'd want to use an previous release of anything rather than the latest release. If anyone know what this is, please enlighten me.

I'm also not sure about most of the other settings and options. Are there any that we should change to get the best performance and connectivity from our Note 3's?

There are a lot of menus and a lot of settings. My hope is that this forum can become a one-stop-shop for what they all mean and what they should be set at for optimal performance. So, please....post away!

Waiting for confirmation:

CA setting stands for Carrier Aggregation and MAY increase data speeds. See the great post from @nutpn here!

DRX CONTROL appears to be a protocol to reduce network utilization and reduce device power consumption. The question is whether or not turning this protocol off will help network connectivity and/or speed AND what effect it has on battery performance. I will turn mine off and see if I notice anything on either front. However, I live and work in an area with very good coverage, so I'm not sure that I'd be a good test case for the network speed/connectivity portion. I will definitely monitor battery consumption. This setting can be found under [2]UE SETTTINGS & INFO, [1]SETTING, [1]PROTOCOL, [1]AS, [4]DRX CONTROL.
So basically I'm having some issues with this I did the root through towelroot.com followed all the instructions on how to root my phone and did some home work on xda on what apps were needed downloaded the recommended apps and truthfully I really don't know where to go from here I have a vzw note 3 and I want to get it fully functional on t-mobile any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using VZW Note 3 with T-mobile Sim. I'm on NC2 Deodex ROM and I can get 4G LTE after enable the VZW Band 4 from the service menu. I'm not using any of the T-mobile apps and I haven't had any issues on T-mobile network.

Tried NC4 but I was getting only H+ GSM network. So I'm back on NC2 ROM.

I would love it if this could be done without root. I am required to have Good for Enterprise on my phone, so no root for me.
You can root and install xposed framework and down load the "good for Enterprise module" that simple just download towel root to one click root on phone read more in proper xda fourm.

A few obvious questions first.
When you enabled, did you set it to on, On, or ON?
Are there any spaces before or after the word ON, or extra blank lines above or below?
Does it still say ON after reboot?
What modified apps and xposed mods are you running?

Thanks for the reply LeftyGR, I didn't know I needed to reboot after enabling the hidden menus. It's working now! :D

Lte apn rules no data service fix?

No Dice, no matter what modem I go to, the phone will not let anything connect.

After changing the APN rules, the phone will not let any sim card activate, especially third party sims. Stuck on Verizon without the ability to make or receive phone calls at this point because the sim card will not activate.

DID YOU EVER FIGURE THIS ONE OUT? I too made the mistake of editing the Lte APn Rules and have some how "service" bricked my n3.retail. Been searching high and low and fee this is the right OP but can't seem to find any answers yet.

Tried so far:
##786# = RTN reset (resets the device to default settings with clean service wipe most used on sprint)

Did factory/reset = no dice

Flashed factory stock NC4 stock rom = nothing (as mentioned before factory resets do nothing for bad efs settings)

Flashed original NC4 modem = nothing (going to try MJE and others)

Played around with band and freq settings some more to see if I changed something else = nothing

hiddenmenu works fine = (thus not resetting to OFF when flashed stock, thus a tell tale that efs is not being touched with resets or other flashes)

Running retail NC4 by the way = (note Weird thing is I have no Selinux line item at all in my about phone settings, even when it was working. so maybe its a special build its on stock nc4 kernel 3.4.0 Apr 28,2014)

Tried messing with RUIM vs. NV_only settings with and with out sim = nothing (note no sim after hard reset will get you bypass activation with wifi only use, still null radio, but if you then switch to NV_only you get 1x voice and signal 1x/3g but no data at all. I thought this was interesting b/c if data was working you could just flash to 3g cdma only pp, but once you edit the flash your imei/esn sim check INFORMATION nv goes fail and creates other issues, so don't go that route, so back on RUIM_only and imput sim back in, and you can use wifi and 1x/3g voice only agian, still no data at all and no 3g/lte/4g. thus it is for sure a result of editing the lte apn rules and some how need to get back to default. stock efs)

Going to try efs pro, as I made a backup with efs back up app that output a efs.img that I luckily saved to local drive = pending results will up date you if working

Saw a post on editing the APN's here = androidcentral-apn-editor-system-settings (going to try)

Also saw the csc edit in this post on a few pages back in this forum = (going to try that too)

Last resort send it back to samsung for repair by calling 18007264864!!

Let know if you found a fix for this?

SO STILL NEED ANY FEEDBACK FROM THE community as I'm LOST HERE ???? HELP???

FOR ALL OTHERS DO NOT PHUCK WITH LTE APN RULES!!!

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong but when you type in the code on the dialer, do you press the call button because it just calls and nothing happens

CID in foreign network (LTE)

Hi all,

I want to reveal the Cell ID when in a foreign LTE network. (That means: without proper [or without ANY] SIM inserted.)

In the native ServiceMode app., I'm only able to see the PCI (Physical CID), not the CI.

I thought It could be possibly logged in the logcat log, but it is almost not logging the radio part in any way.

(My phone: S4 mini, 4.2.2-I9195XXUBMJ7, rooted)

Any ideas?

Followed your instructions to the letter, but... nothing... cannot accees the servicemenu... it's driving me crazy!

I need to access that menu to reset the USB connector port as I am having problems with it: my phone won't bee seen by Odin, Kies and by my Laptop USB (device not recognized...) plus my phone won't charge the battery from a wall charger but only from the Laptop (via USB)
If Odin and Kies can't see it, then I can't flash a new firmware to solve my USB problem!
Factory reset did not help at all!
:crying:
Hey i have the same problem as you with the usb did you ever find a solution? or anyone know of one.

I forget which menu item it's in....but there's a reset nvram option. Or use odin to reflash the radio.
