After doing a bunch of reading and scratching my head why my contacts wouldn't sync, thus not letting me use voice dialing or a good dialer, I finally found a thread that mentioned a similar issue: https://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/629911-no-option-sync-google-contacts.html

After some more reading I was able to determine the default installation on my Eincar head unit is missing the Google Contact Sync APK. I found a copy on APK Mirror here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...c-4-0-4-488656-android-apk-download/download/

I downloaded and installed this, then went into accounts in system settings and the contact sync option was now available. I was able to turn this on, and installed ExDialer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&hl=en and now I can actually use my contacts and exdialer to send dial commands to the bluetooth app and it's all working as expected.

I was able to get the Google assistant working once for voice dialing by messing with the screen width DP settings in developer options, then when the head unit restarted it lost that functionality. I'm going to be doing a bit more troubleshooting on that one and see if there is a way I can use tasker to automate that on boot to fix permanently. Will update as I make progress on that.

I tried this on mine. (HA/Dasaita PX5 4/32gb unit) I had the contact sync app missing as well, and installed it, and now it sees my contacts.

I then installed Exdialer, and it looks great and has all my contacts, but it won't dial. The normal "Bluetooth" application that dials via my phone still works, but I'd much rather use Exdialer.

When I first brought up Exdialer, and tried to dial something, it came up asking me which app (Phone or FCC Launcher), and neither choice works to dial. The "Bluetooth" dialer app wasn't an option.

How did you get Exdialer to dial out via the "Bluetooth" app?

Thanks in advance!

Great tips. I am just expecting my head unit to be installed in a few days, Kia Sportage 2015
I am wondering if it will support "voice commands" and "voice calling" like my default (factory) KIA car radio unit does ?
When I press the button on the photo I can use "Call NAME" "Phonebook" etc. commands.
I want my new head unit to be able to at least dial by contact name :) It will be running on Android 8.1

Any tips ? :)

Were you able to figure out Google assistant for voice dialing?
One of my two T8 units came with Android 7.1.2 and the other 8.1. The 7.1.2 system shows "I can't make call yet" when I ask Google assistant to call. When I talk to the Oreo unit, Google assistant launches BT calling app, but calling number does not show up, so calling cannot be completed. I have installed Exdialer app with Google contact sync for both units, and Exdialer works well for calling with BT.
Further investigation shows 8.1 has Default Phone in App settings while 7.1.2 unit does not. That's why Google assistant launched BT dialer (although no dial number) in 8.1 unit but not in 7.1.2. Is there a way to set default dialer in 7.1.2? I also wonder how to pass dial number from Google assistant to BT dialer.
