I dial *#*#4636#*#* , get through phone info, in Preferred network it's set to "WCDMA ONLY". Change to "WDCMA preffered" but every time I reboot phone, it goes back to "WCDMA ONLY" and have to setup this again

How to solve this? How to save this setting?

Also, I think the culprit could be a misbehaving app. Could you guys having flickering backlight issue post what all apps you have installed on the phone? Maybe we could round up few apps and test them.

Hi Dhiru,

If I remember right, I had installed pure A7 and kept the phone for 1 week before installing apps and using as a daily driver. The backlight bug was there immediately after installing Alpha 7 before even adding any application.

One more small observation just now. I was on loSconosciuto kernel for 2 days and I just reverted back to the default A7 kernel, rebooted the phone, and did not unlock the phone and after few seconds, backlight came up. I unlocked the phone, cleared the notifications, locked the phone. Then the screen went off and backlight did not come. Not sure how clearing notifications are helping!

Not much different, still getting into situations where backlight was coming on. Screen flashing is still there.

I also had an abrupt reboot and last_kmsg is attached.

Could you say if there any bugs? Cuz im really sick of this phone. Otherwise gonna buy another one. Can't even scroll in menu :(

I give you an advice friend, this one telephone is good enough, not so much as a SIII or a SIV, but it is good, if you are running CM10.1 Alpha 7, and nonetheless it him does not work well, I recommend to you the following thing:
- flash 2.3.6 (kpu) with ODIN.
- flash Root kpu and CWM with ODIN.
-Wipe data/factory reset.
-Wipe System.
- flash CM10.1 Alpha 7 (or latest)
- flash Gapps.-Wipe breaks partition.
-Wipe dalvik cache.
With these steps my SCL enough good works. Thansk if I helped you ;)

@loSconosciuto I tried this method and it is fully working. Replaced file - vold, set permissions - rwxr-xr-x, rebooted the phone. Now I'm normally connected to a computer in a mode of UMS. Thank you very much for your help! :)

    IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE FLASHING!
    1. If you flash this ROM from Stock ROM, it will wipe data due to different partitioning. The device would reboot while flashing and resume again.
    2. Once on this ROM, the most effective way of going back to any other ROM would be to repartition from Odin.
    3. While converting the filesystem, your efs that has your IMEI is backed up to /emmc/backup/efs. Keep a backup on your PC just in case.
    4. Incase if you don't get a network signal, check if your IMEI and Baseband are proper. If not, go back to stock and try again.
    5. Do NOT use Odin to flash Modems. Due to different partitions, Odin will screw up your existing MTD setup.


    Stock ROM
    1. Flash CWM Compatible Kernel (CF ROOT)
    2. Reboot to Recovery.
    3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
    4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
    5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
    6. Reboot to Recovery Again.
    7. Flash Google Apps.
    8. Reboot

    Any other AOSP ROM (CM7/MIUI/CM9)
    1. Reboot to Recovery.
    3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
    4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.

    I have finally purchased LG Optimus Black P970. Big Thanks to everyone who has donated.

    I have received the phone yesterday and I have built CM10.1 and installed it. I started playing around with the HWComposer and testing out few stuff. After hours of debugging with the P970, I finally came to know what's the problem that was preventing HWComposer to run on Galaxy SL. I immediately made the fixes and viola! It works.

    The UI is butter smooth now with almost no visible lag. The performance is same as that of P970. However, I have been facing issues with getting the HD video to work. There are some display subsystem errors and the screen turns off when a video is played. Once this issue is fixed, I will roll out the next release with HWComposer.
