Lots of nice specs, but... MediaTek. :( My MediaTek tablet is the only Android device I have that I can't easily root, so I'm steering clear of MT chips now.

Update: The Jiayu S3 comes pre-rooted, so no worries there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61726698&postcount=144

And it is still toooooo big! I think the Nexus 5 2015 is going to be the best bet for me. The g3 I recently bought can probably hold me over until then.

Kingroot app does a one click root for most MediaTek phones, and an English version is available now.

UPDATE apparently king tour sends your imie number to China, do not a good way to root at all :(

If that Axon has any development I'd be all over that thing, don't see it though. I'd rather get a 1+2 that has the same specs (except maybe resolution?) and will have tons of development..

This looks very interesting. ZTE Axon

Newly announced (pre-order aval now, shipping at the end of month). CHEAPER than the Saygus, some better specs

Pretty sure this was already mentioned a couple pages back. And between the 5.5" screen (not to mention qHD), 32GB non-expandable memory, and non-removable battery, this really isn't that great a phone IMO. Certainly not what I'm looking for in a phone.

I was just looking at that one today because a lot of blog posts popped up about it. For $450 it's an excellent value but it doesn't have a microSD slot and it only has 32gb of built in storage. Also it's not water resistant and it's a little big for my taste.

Where are the phones with 5" screens with great specs? Maybe the Nexus 5 (2015) will be exactly what I'm looking for.

It's great that it can record 4k video but with no expandable memory and only 32gb of built in storage and no microSD slot, recording long 4k videos is out of the question.

BTW it's not qHD resolution as in 960 x 540 pixels. It's quad HD resolution as in 2560 x 1440 pixels which is impressive but is a battery drain.

On another note the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 is on sale today for $199. I wish I could merge the Alcatel and Axon phones together. Take the 1080p screen, microSD slot and nearly stock Android of the Alcatel and take the processor, RAM and cameras of the Axon and merge them together.
