Hi nhumber, in my case passing it through tv will require some rewiring which I am not considering an option. I have tried the keep alive to all possible settings without luck. My AV receiver supports all audio formats and it is able to play everything being passed from fire tv. The only problem is that once DTS audio is played, nothing else plays after that. I have created a thread in xbmc forum and there seem to be other users with this same problem. None who have it resolved. I created a ticket with xbmc and logged it as a bug.

Hi what I meant was just for testing purposes. Have pass through enabled. Audio set to hdmi output. into a TV.. Play a video with dts.. (TV will decode it down to stereo or maybe it will just have no audio, doesn't matter.. ) then go try a non dts video.. If you get audio from your TV where u normally wouldn't get it from your av receiver. Then you can conclude that it's some sort of compatibility issue with the receiver and not the an actual problem with the ftv.

The USB mouse worked, plus I was able to scale the display down in the device settings. Now I just need a way to enable location services.

Did you ever figure out how to enable location services?

Charter TV not working in FireTV

Trying to get Charter TV version 1.0.5 to run. However, I get “Disconnect HDMI to resume playback” message on screen when I try to play a station on it.

I am a new member of forum and a user not a developer but I can follow instructions if not overly technical. Can you help? I understand you reported having run this app successfully.

I apologize for re-asking: I am receiving a fire TV today and I hope it can be rooted. I also have a fire TV stick and when I sideload the dish anywhere apk it won't run because of missing Google store services.

Are you saying that it should work on the fire TV without routing it? I am buying the fire TV only for dish anywhere. If this doesn't work I will need to return it ...

If you get lucky and get the rootable version then you are good. Dishanywhere works perfectly fine on mine during my test. however I have the google play store installed as well so can't comment on it requiring the google framework.

You can download the Google services off of the app egg store on the fire tv, you may need to have a browser installed though for the download link to work. Saw it there yesterday when was playing with my non rootable fire tv.

thanks OP and all who contributed finding this post gave me even more use for my FTV Stick. i don't know if anyone posted this but i tried watch tnt app and it works after logging in with my cable company tv everywhere account and am watching the matrix as i type. it will need some sort of mouse like a lot of other apps i don't know if there are better remote apps to use but i am using wukong remot as suggested in a youtube video.

Try limitless remote, it's on the play store, I use it on my ftv and works well. You will need the limitless server on the fire stick.

Fire TV Finally All Setup

Finally got my Fire TV setup. Rooted, Rbox Custom Rom, XBMC, SPMC on homescreen etc. I have used the swap sd to swap internal for a 120 gig ssd which is working great. My question is: How do I make a backup from recovery? I know how to boot into recovery and make a backup, but since I have my storage swapped to the ssd
1. Can I mount a thumbdrive and backup to it
2. Will it make a complete backup even though my internal storage is swapped to the ssd
any help would be greatly appreciated

Personal preference for starters, more control over what's on it and what's not plus some apps need root to operate properly, like limitless remote, not all fries work properly without it.
