Got update available notification on my G watch R today, applied and found it to be 7.1.1

Great to see LG keeping up OS upgrades for this model.

You can flash a stock ota only with stock recovery.

Unfortunately though, they didn't fix the bug which makes both "Chairman" watchface to disappear... :'(

In may case the Android security path level is 1st of May, 2017.
