Emui 10 Beta Indian User Review

As the tittle suggested

Good
1. Animation is smooth
2. Opening apps are quite faster
3. Dark mode is nice
4. Cleaner UI

Bad
1. Battery is quite worse

These are my feedbacks atm.. Feel free to add more and solutions to annoyances as well.. Thanks

Hey I totally agree with you except for the battery thing, I have not faced any such significant change in battery or SOT. I am getting the same battery backup as I used to earlier.
Though there is one issue which I have been facing, the lockscreen doesn't show step counts anymore.
Also I formatted my phone after updating it to beta as I hadn't formatted my phone ever since I purchased it and there were so many cluttered files and all.
Before I performed the reset, I wasn't getting an option to swipe through the magazine lock screen enabled wallpapers or edit i.e. Add/ Remove the wallpapers like in earlier stable version.
After resetting, I can edit and view all the wallpapers by swiping right or left like in earlier stable versions before beta update .
So that issue got solved automatically.

But the one feature that I loved on my lockscreen i.e. Step counts has gone missing.

After the reset, I am unable to install the beta app and report to Huawei Team directly as I realised that the app can't be installed now.

So anyone if facing the similar issue, kindly report about non visibility of step counts on lockscreen.
Thank you.

The step counter is linked to the Health app. Any chance that was removed/deactivated during the update to EMUI 10?

Thanks for responding.
But no after I formatted my phone, I have installed and updated everything including Huawei Health app to their latest versions.
I can see the step counts in my notification panel if I enable it from Huawei Health app but I can't see on the lockscreen like before.

I am also facing similar issue. After factory reset not able to install Beta app. Also while trying to restore the app from backup it says "Conflicting app signature, unable to install."

It will be really helpfull if someone knows how to resolve this issue.

Yeah man I also wish to get a workaround to install the beta app again.
That's my only regret for formatting my phone and losing the beta app.
And there is one more thing I wish to report, as I was pretty much excited to try that feature, but the AOD styles and customization is also missing.
Now you can see a separate Always on Display option under home screen & wallpaper settings but wish they had added the AOD styles too in this beta version.
Hope the same comes in stable version like mentioned in new EMUI 10 features atleast.

Yes sir I am also hoping for better AOD customization in next beta build. I am also seeing one weird issue that is even when I am on stable wifi connection 4g data keeps on getting used every few seconds. This never happened on Pie.

I think I also faced the same issue once but then I switched off mobile data while I was connected to WiFi so I didn't realise it.
I will update when next time I am connected to WiFi simultaneously as mostly I am all the time on my mobile data only.

If you download and use the Aida64 app ( under sensors), it shows that the step counter is inbuilt and always active regardless of Huawei Health being uninstalled or not . However, once you install beta 10 that sensor is no longer activated for step counter or active.

Oh man...
That's strange but too informative to hear...
Hope they fix it in the next build or stable update...
They have to...
Coz that's, for me atleast, one of the most unique features of this device which I loved using...

Thanks a lot for responding..

It's easily verifiable, sensors active and running under 9.1 and not under 10 beta.

I just don't understand why the inbuilt step counter was always active before, even with no apps calling for its usage.

If you open Huawei Health app or keep the step count visible in notifications panel then it's actually working like it used to be....
It calculated right number of steps in my case...
But my issue is that it isn't showing up on the lockscreen as it used to be earlier even if I have my show step counts on lockscreen option enabled...

That sounds good since it appears that they are trying to prevent the step counter from always being active. Like in my case on 9.1 , it was always being used calculating steps even with no apps calling for it.

I don't have any issue with this sensor enabled all the time...
Atleast it motivates me to walk more and also somehow keeps me active...
It feels good when you achieve the daily target which in my case is 10k steps...
I don't care about number of calories burnt and all but this small achievement kind notification when it pops up then does make me happy...
And I just wish to have that step count on lockscreen visible as 1. It is not that interruptive compared to keeping it in notification panel and 2. It does keep me encouraged sometimes while on boring phone calls to keep walking
;)

As for emui 10 features , Huawei completely came up short, in regards to adding any new features etc. Official Huawei listshowing what they claim was added. The gap between one ui and emui is even bigger.Screenshot_20191030_220932_com.sec.android.app.sbrowser.jpg

Sorry to argue but the sensor is active all the time otherwise how would it count my steps i.e. When I opened it few hours ago, it showed 1k steps...
Right now it's showing 3k around..

So if the sensor was inactive then it should have shown me only 1k only right? As I stopped using the app after that...

So I am sorry to disagree but I feel sensor stays active all the time only like it used to be earlier... Even if no apps are still calling for it..

Sensors shouldn't be running on all the time unless called for by software. Example, Samsung one ui has a step counter, but it doesn't run all the time unless instructed to do so by S Health.

Ya actually
I agree...
I don't see features worth 5gb of update but I am fine as far as the performance is improved....
Atleast the phone does feel a little refreshed with these new small tweaks here and there....
Though have been still craving for those new AOD styles and some more changes but let's hope for the best in future updates...

I still love my Huawei Mate 20 Pro because the hardware is there to make you happy in areas where the software isn't doing that...

On a lighter note...
After the update...
The UI feels more like Samsung's One UI than IOS kind

So for a person coming from Stock Android...

It feels like Homecoming than Far From Home
:p

I feel that totally misses the point of keeping this sensor...
Why would you want to open an app then walk.. :p
I personally prefer the way it is in EMUI...

---------- Post added at 02:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:55 PM ----------

Also there are few things which I couldn't find post formatting my phone after the beta update...

If anyone can help me where these options are hidden now... then I would be more than happy...

1. Can't find the option to enable vibration when the person answers my call

2. Can't find the option to enable vibration when the phone rings

Can find (No. 2) but this is an issue I guess and earlier it was named vibrate when rings...

The issue with No. 2 is :

The vibrate in silent mode option gets disabled when you switch between profiles...
(Eg. If you are in General mode / Loud mode and enable this option and then switch to Vibrate Mode / Silent Mode to No ringer Mode and back to General mode)
In short, as you tap thrice on the sound profile mode then this option just gets disabled...

If most of you are facing the same,
Please report to Huawei Team as I can't install Beta app and report on my own...
Thank you..

Sir I am still not sure what your problem is, you are not a Mate 20 pro user and now as per your comment in Samsung forums you are not even using the beta but still you want to keep on cribbing about something which doesn't even make any sense.

We do understand that you are not happy with the beta but please understand that this is the first drop of the beta and might not have everything implemented or might have some bugs. Its our duty as a beta tester to report this to Huawei and hope that things get implemented and bugs get fixed by the time stable gets release and keep sharing our experiences and try to help each other in this forum till that time.
