I woke up to this message this morning, so I can confirm that something has been released. FWIW, I was in the Pie beta group so that may have sped up the process for me.

IIRC Android 10 still allows you to use the 3 button navigation or 2 button navigation if you don't want the full gesture navigation.

The update is available in Chile but it is badly implemented, the gestures are slow and the cell phone in general remained
