They did just happen to bring back app suggestions in recents in beta 3? I can't believe they would take away such a useful feature to replace it with screenshot and copy...

A different launcher could still include that, right? If yes, I think for the first time I'll be using a 3rd party launcher if one of those keeps it as an option.

True! It feels like a step backward! I hate this change. It was such a useful feature.

Anyone having issues rooting?
I download the image and flashed without the -w from beta 2 to 3
I used magisk to patch the boot.img from beta 3. After flashing it with fastboot. My phone just boots back into bootloader mode never goes to the OS

What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to change slots maybe? Or flash in both slots?

I'm having the same issue. I tried updating without wiping and also tried a clean install. I've also seen others report the same issue so I don't think root has been achieved on Beta 3 as of yet. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

Similar here... Tried the latest Magisk Canary built without success. I've flashed the slots --all, a, b, still doesn't work so unless somebody helps me, I think root won't happen for now :crying:

I didn't have any problems with rooting either. I just dirty flashed beta 3 over the Android 10 August update and after reboot the magisk_patched.img to both slots.

Sent from my Google Pixel 4 XL using XDA Labs

Thanks but that didn't work. I tried flashing your bootloader image to both of my partitions and after it booted up I still don't have root. Not really sure what's going on.
Your best bet is to patch the boot image your self because from my experience using other's patches boot image has always failed for me. Also make sure you're running the latest magisk canary APK. One more thing is to make sure you're running the latest platform tools and you should be good to go currently on beta 3 and rooted easy as pie.

Appreciate the help but I tried patching my own bootloader to no avail. Platform tools and Magisk Canary are also up to date. I figured I'd try a pre-patched bootloader that was known to be working to rule out any issues with Magisk. I'm open to try any other ideas you might have.

I've never once flashed both slots. I flashed beta 3 by using the actual phone notification, just after fully-uninstalling Magisk. Once it came back up, I re-installed Canary APK, downloaded beta 3 image, patched, etc. No problem whatsoever.

US unlocked Pixel 4 XL.

does anyone have the canary magisk link? all the ones online dont work anymore. or does regular magisk work for beta 3?

I finally figured out was I was doing when I was trying to root Beta 3! In Magisk Manager Canary, I was selecting "Advanced" > "Recovery Mode" when patching my bootloader image, that was causing the "no valid boot slot to boot" error in fastboot. I have always selected that option when patching so I'm not sure what changed. Many thanks for everyone that helped me!
