i have installed the new rom.
no changes to the previews build found so far.
no problems with my overlay tweaks mentioned in post #121.

Much appreciated! Did you also create an issue for auto brightness? I assume ambient display not working is not really a Google issue?

i filled out some bugs/requests like the missing led notification and the issue about the empty battery status.
if you like you can follow my issue tracker under the following link:
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues?q=reporter:[email protected]
its never to late to fill out a bug report with your issues and requests.

i never was a fan of google's integrated automatic brightness control, so i am using "lux" (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944921) to control the brightness of the display.
lux may crash at start, this is because you have to enable "usage data access" and "screen overlay" for lux first.

if you are looking for an uptodate google phone app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218

How do I enable "usage data access" and "screen overlay" please?

Could you explain how. The colours available are not the greatest.

Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs

This is how i did it.

1) Download this :-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-magisk-module-qacc-custom-accent-t4011747
2) Use the app to make all the colours you want but DO NOT REBOOT after creating them.
3) Make a backup of your colours in the app settings. (Saved in /sdcard/Documents/ACC/).
4) Use a root explorer and go to backed up colours and extract them. (They seem to be double compressed as *.tar.gz then *.tar.
5) Copy the hex_*****.apk's to /system/product/overlay/ (make sure they have -rw-r-r- 644 permissions).
6) Reboot Ph1.
7) Tap the Accent Colour you want in the ACC app and enjoy.

    hello guys,
    i have coded a overlay for the stausbar that respect the front camera cutout.
    i also have managed to get the circle icon shape to work with the DP4.

    first of all u need a rooded (latest Magisk carnary - https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/dev-magisk-canary-channel-bleeding-edge-t3839337) device and a root explorer (https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/jrummy-apps/root-browser/root-browser-3-5-10-0-release/).
    in the attachment u can find the nessesary files you will need for the statusbar overlay and the circle icon shape.
    • copy the folders "DisplayCutoutEmulationEssential" and "IconShapeCircle" into "(root directory) produkt/overlay"
    • set the permission of the apks in the folders to rw - rw - r (664)
    • with root explorer go into the folder "(root) product/etc/sysconfig" and copy the xml file provided in the attachment and overwrite it or insert the following lines directly in the "preinstalled-packages-platform-overlays.xml (shown in red)":
    the xml file should look like this:
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

        <install-in-user-type package="com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural">

        <install-in-user-type package="com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.threebutton">
            <install-in user-type="FULL" />
        </install-in-user-type>
        <install-in-user-type package="com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.twobutton">
            <install-in user-type="FULL" />
        </install-in-user-type>
      	[COLOR="Red"]<install-in-user-type package="com.android.theme.icon.circle">
            <install-in user-type="FULL" />
        </install-in-user-type>
        <install-in-user-type package="com.android.internal.display.cutout.emulation.essential">
            <install-in user-type="FULL" />
        </install-in-user-type>[/COLOR]
    </config>

    • after rebooting your device the cutout overlay called "Essential" could be chosen in the developer options (see screenshot)
    • the circle icon shape cound be activated via usb debugging with the following command:
    Code:
    adb shell cmd overlay enable --user 0 com.android.theme.icon.circle
