Welcome to the beauty of modern GUIs....What the hell is this UI... everything looks so big. I tried to change "smallest width" from Developer options but it's useless.
Well times are changing.... Theses settings aren't as important as they used to be anymore I guessAnd now if I want to turn ON/OFF wi-fi/data mobile, I must press on Internet on top of the screen and then go back down and press again, even for my big hand It's quite uncomfortable.
This new UI is for blind people. What the hell is this UI... everything looks so big. I tried to change "smallest width" from Developer options but it's useless. Try using this app after granting adb and change the font scale option as well as changing the dpi from the developer optionsWhat the hell is this UI... everything looks so big. Because the previous one was made by Sony for 21:9 Xperias. And this one's built-in by Google. It's fun to see whenever Sony makes something for its mobiles, then it gets integrated into Android like it was with face recognition. This One hand mode on Android 12 is trash. If you activate it you only get upper half of screen. And if you enter in app then you are out of One hand mode. One hand mode on Android 11 was so nuch better. True One hand mode not this half made One hand mode.
Yes and it's a better implementationBecause the previous one was made by Sony for 21:9 Xperias. And this one's built-in by Google. It's fun to see whenever Sony makes something for its mobiles, then it gets integrated into Android like it was with face recognition.
OTA updated mine in UK (unrooted XQ-BC72 from Hong Kong) without any issues.I've just done the update and now my Xperia home screen keeps crashing and looping
Xperia 1 iii UK
Yeah not sure what happened, i managed to clear d the saved data for the xpera home app and its fine now.OTA updated mine in UK (unrooted XQ-BC72 from Hong Kong) without any issues.
I wouldn't say that, not always. This one-hand mode isn't better Most of these functions were better by Sony, than Google imo.
How can I find out what region my firmware is currently? I have a 512GB XQ-BC72. I am using this device in the UK and everything works fine. I would imagine it is HK firmware as it was shipped straight from Chi
Thanks for mentioning this. Mine is also the same as yours. GLOBAL-C2 - user.Dial *#*#7378423#*#* to go to service menu and then software info to get software version. For example mine from HK is GLOBAL-C2 - user
Whar do you mean by "you cannot use 4k on Android 12" ?:-( That sucks.
As I read now - you cannot use 4k on Android 12... Sony, why do you do this???
[EDIT]Also, power menu has no GPay anymore. Pulldown menu is much worse - no dedicated setting fow WiFi/mobile data anymore. System-menu looks aweful - it's so plain yet so bad. I cannot rebind the Google Assistant button. Notification-profile switches(above the volume) changed (to the worse).
But one positive thing at least: There is a quick setting for extra-dark screen.[/EDIT]
On a positive note 5G SA seems to work, but I'll probably not be in a cell that supports it until ~three weeks from now so don't hold your breath.
By default the screen res is more like 2k, 1096x2560, try wm size. In A11 you could force this to 4k by using the same command, but that doesn't work anymore. Sad.Whar do you mean by "you cannot use 4k on Android 12" ?
Do you mean 4K reslution of the display?
According to this tweet by the guy who runs www.cacombos.com, Android 12 added new 5G CA combos to the Asian model of the Xperia 1 III. Maybe the update for Android 12 will do the same for the U.S. model. One can only hope. These two are a daily hassle that I'd love to see fixed:
- SA 5G fix for USA model
- Workaround for Google's broken microSd access
The LTE + NR71 combo it uses for NSA 5G drops a lot and can take minutes to recover.
I'm using old versions of apps to not hit Google's Nov 2021 mandatory migration to SAF for microSd. Google's SAF is so broken that apps only lock up or crash using it. Some phone makers are providing an SAF bypass setting that gets them Google certified without permanently losing microSd use.
if it cannot have 4K res no matter what, it shouldn't be called "4K display" anymore.By default the screen res is more like 2k, 1096x2560, try wm size. In A11 you could force this to 4k by using the same command, but that doesn't work anymore. Sad.
