Got the 3.1 OTA update this morning.
I had turned my Xoom off when I went to sleep and when I turned it on this morning, I checked email and a website or two and when I checked to see if the update was available, it was already downloading. So this is what I was greeted with.

It took about 6 minutes after download to finish installing and be booted up again.

So I managed to get the Update in South Africa on my Wifi Xoom, but probably because it was a US version.

Cheers

I ordered one of the USB host cables yesterday and just as I received my email letting me know my item had been shipped, my Xoom also notified me there was a system update.

I can honestly feel the performance improvement with 3.1. Now I'm just waiting for a Google Music invite and I'll be set!

I had rooted my Xoom with the one-click method. I received the update, it downloaded and restart. I got this android with a triangle and exclamation. Then it restarted. Thinking that I got it, it was still at 3.0.1 Now it says: Your system is up to date.

Weirdest thing is that my Kernel says 2.6.36.3 Tiamat. I just did the 1-click root, why would I have tiamat? Im lost here.

I got the update this morning andthe browser runs so much faster it is ridiculous, I can actualy use this site.
Me too... the browser is really fast! The one thing I don't like yet is the lag when switching among home screens in a position different from the widescreen with the 'motorola' logo on the top.

FYI I ended up getting the update prompt. I'm using the Xoom Wi-Fi only. Did not see this thread before, but figured it was not going to work because of the Tiamat kernel. I was right, it ended up failing and after a force reboot, it would not allow me to force download it again. I did find the update file in the cache folder thanks to a post here, and saved it for a rainy day. Would upload it but it seems soneone already did that and posted in this thread. I wonder if you are rooted and unlocked but using the stock kernel, if it will update? Have not finished reading the 12+ pages but my guess is you probably have to be stock/locked/unrooted which sucks. Hope Tiamat will be updated to work with 3.1 because there is no way I am going back to stock/locked.

Scroll down to the bottom of the xda site on your xoom and change the theme to xda classic

I had used the Tiamat kernel since 1.1.6 up to 1.4.1, did BDR's update to 3.1 and so far, no problems - only see a tether/hotspot holdover from the Verizon parts and my default homepage had "verizon" in the URL. That's all.

So, for folks that went back to stock 3.0.x and then up to 3.1, do you see any differences?

Google Movie, Movie Studio and the Market seem to all be running fine to me. I'm not seeing anything negative, I still have root (YES!) but not seeing any negatives but I don't have anything to compare it to.

Anybody with enough experience between the two avenues to the 3.1 update?
