Android 3.1 Update on Wifi Only Xoom

Exchanged my Acer Iconia A500 today and picked up the Xoom. Unboxed it out in the car put my Google account. Tethered for WiFi and showed new update available. Downloaded and installed on the road all my calendar, contacts, apps, etc... went right into my Xoom. Try that on your iPad, well you can't. Need a computer to connect first.

Reason I took back the A500 was that the GPS and volume button not working. Also the mic wasn't working very well. So purchased the Xoom. Glad I did.

xoom 3.1 oc'd is much better for streaming media. Google is working on hardware acceleration.

3.1 has my xoom feeling like it should. Running solidly. Much more stable and way more snappy. Me likey!

Xoom 3.1 update bricked my Xoom!

I woke up Saturday and my Xoom said it was ready to update. I installed it, it rebooted and is stuck on the Motorola Dual Core screen. Called tech support and long story short, they have no clue so I'm shipping it back to them. I wasn't rooted, just stock. I had no problems with the Xoom until then.

The Movies tab doesn't show on wifi only Xooms. For some reason it is only available for 3g Xooms.

From my experience, that is false.. I have a wifi only Xoom, and a market with the movies tab.
I originally rooted with one click
then did the update listed here to get to 3.1 still rooted

I wonder when is Google ever going to get through all the red tape involved in getting stuff working outside US?

If you read around you will see there is no movies tab on Wifi. It has been covered on numerous News websites and here a few dozen times. Search does wonders. Try it sometime

How do you know if your xoom is euro/uk version or the U.S version?

Go into Settings --> About Tablet --> look at "Build Number".

If it says something like HRI39 / HRI66 / HWI69 / HJI39 then it is a US version
If it says something different then it is an international version.

For example, my Canadian zoom has a Build Number of H.6.2-21.1300906654

If you have a USA model Xoom, then you should get the 3.1 update no matter what country you are actually in. If you have an international model Xoom, the update has not been released yet.

I have an h 6.2-21 I guess no update for us, but was wondering if the usb method to update will function on this one or if anybody know if a release will be done for us.

if you bought it in the US, its a US model... if you bought it outside the states, prolly international.

No release for int'l xooms yetm I am in the same boat as you with a CDN xoom, waiting for 3.1 hat in hand.

Asus Transformer in Hong Kong already got 3.1 update yesterday, but Motorola Xoom still doesn't announce when 3.1 update will be available outside US.

3.1 update failed now brick

Was home in Seattle got update notification, attempted-failed due to root. Attempted to unroot now starting rsd 2 failed linux module 004 eror msg. had to leave for Jeddah KSA next day for 1 year of work. Kept xoom to use as signal mirror if lost in desert and bought GTab. Awesome. Moral of sad tale- research all aspects of intended device tweakage PRIOR to starting.

One Click Root App

I've been trying to find the One Click Root app for the Xoom, but every time I go to mediafire it says that the file is private.

Can anyone tell me where I can get it from other than mediafire?

Go to BRD's post on hiiis new 1 click root/update and follow directions carfully. It is really easy if you are careful. You may have previously pressed on the wrong download link.
