It looks like Google just did some minor modifications to the code, so I had to make the app compatible with these modifications. Nothing to worry about, I don't think they'll break it again when the stable version is released.
The system recorder using /Music/Recordings/Call Recordings folder but the app asks to give permissions to Android/data.
If so, select that folder in the app > Settings > Recording > System recorder and ignore request to get Android/data
well I tried but when I do that, there a toast notification, I have attached a screen shot.
Well technically it's not their problem as it's a 3rd party app causing the issue to appear. Like I said when you disable the call recorder there is no issue at all. Maybe skvalex can make some platform specific adjustments to fix the issue.

Yeah I'm experiencing that too, my phone is rooted and all the root audio sources produce silent recordings.
Are you thinking this Call Recorder app is related to Google Pay in some way?

It's better to clarify explicitly every time what you mean to avoid misunderstanding.
If you want 2-way call recording - get root. It's the only recommendation for any phone since Android 9 that don't have built-in call recording. Pixel phones don't have system recorder that could record to a folder accessible by Call Recorder.
An user can repeat some information during a call if it needs to be saved. Also, one side recording can help to remind what conversation was about. It's not ideal for sure, but it's better than nothing.
Sure it does. But with limitations that Google has brought to unrooted phones in Android 9.
