Separate "2-way" from "call recording" then you will have only two concepts, instead of the dilemma of how to understand them together.
The concept of "2-way" was born when "1-way" techniques were common and was intended to simply explain the operation and show added value.
The two go together. Always. You're recording a 'conversation'. And as far as I know, a conversation always involves more than one person. Atleast on a phone call.
Root is required to record only one side, actually. Without root the app can record microphone sound which usually catches sound coming from the speaker. So some users misinterpret 2-way call recording with microphone recording when microphone is sensitive.
With all the changes that Google had done with newer Android versions, the recordings lack clarity and have a lot of background noise.
Recording over the speaker is a good workaround for the restrictions.
Fortunately, 3 of my 4 Android phones come with a built-in dialer app with call recording feature, and they all work flawlessly. I will not update my phone software if this feature were to be removed, as I am not keen on rooting any of my devices.

It doesn't matter how many people.
(1-way) = sound coming out of the microphone + sound caught by the microphone coming in from the speaker
(2-way) = sound coming out of the microphone + sound coming into the speaker.

The application is recording "silence". I have files filled with nothing but having proper size. It happened about 2-3 months ago. OS updates ended about a year ago, there are only security patches sometimes.

Check that accessibility service is enabled and make sure the app is locked in the recents
hello to all been a while i just updated to the newest app both sides of the recording work fine on galaxy s22 ultra not rooted the only issue i can't fix is it only records my voice when using my AirPods. regular calling or on speaker phone work fine

hi, just two simple questions - can I import an unlimited number of calls from the last 4 years from another call recorder? and the second question - where are the call notes stored? can I edit them outside of the app or export and archive them all?
I have problems with corrupt recordings. I just extracted all calls with a specific number, 186 recorded calls all in all. 26 of these calls are 0 seconds. Out of these 26 calls, half of them are 10 kB or bigger, and the biggest is 16 kB. That should be 10-15 seconds when using opus and the default settings. And in fact, when I playback them they last for ≈ 10 seconds but VLC doesn't count up the time as it should (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 etc) but rather displays 1 second and then after a while jump to 8 or 9 seconds, skipping all the values inbetween.
Attached is an example. And if you listen to it (had to zip it because the forum software doesn't accept opus), something is up with the actual sound, like Call Recorded hung or something like that.

Does this mean that if I buy a phone WITH built-in call recording (I am looking at Asus Zenfone), Skvalex Call Recorder will work? Or am I stuck with the built in call recorder?
Wrong, you should have bought the Call Recorder Unlocker for $10 if you want to use the full version.

2-way call recording not working properly on Android 9 and above without root, or if you don't have specific CSC region (like Thailand and such) where Google didn't remove native call recording function.
You can try to mute microphone when you are on call and see if other side was recorded. If didn't, you don't have 2-way call recording enabled. What happens it that the microphone is sensitive and in quiet environment it picks sounds from other side and you think that 2-way call recording is working, but when you are outside or in the car, you will see that quality of other side will not be great, or even it will not be understandable at all.
You try to mute microphone during call and see what happens.1

You're absolutely right, I was too quick to call it a success.
When I installed the app yesterday, I called an answering machine and said a few words, and then listened to the recording and could hear both myself and the answering machine, and thought IT WORKS!
But as you wrote, not really, if I mute the microphone, nothing is recorded, and the microphone is super sensitive and picks up everything.
Damn, then I need to change the SCS to something that allows recording.

Google Pixel 6 Pro rooted and was on v3.5.5 with A14 beta 2, everything worked wonderfully. I didn't try v3.6.0 alpha01 but just updated to alpha02, both incoming and outgoing calls showing recorded but no sound on both ends. I didn't change any settings as everything are almost defaults. Please take a look if my reporting would help you find the issue. I am going back to v3.5.5 for now. -

Today I got the attached email from Google. The app is banned from the Play Store. I sent appeal, waiting a reply from Google. Hope they'll allow to reinstate the app. I think the issue was because of linking to AlsaMixer: https://github.com/skvalex/alsamixer

Google won't reinstate the app.
But I still can publish the app to the Play Store as a new one. So I'm working on it now. It gonna be a free trial app + another app to unlock the full version. I'll create an apk which will unlock the full version for people who have already purchased the app. So they won't have to pay for the app again. Also, I have to remove all root functions from the app which gonna be on the Play Store. So another apk with root functions will be on the xda.311.
