Did you get your phone through Vodacom? Vodacom's csc is XFV which, from what I see, has MA2 as the last update. I'm rooted so I don't have ota on my phone. I use a custom rom and change my csc to XFV.

Nope mine is a carrier free phone purchased through a samsung retailer. I haven't received the 4.3 update yet so was wondering, as some countries received theirs in december.

na8 has carrier apps /bloat .
Other than that it does not seem very different.
Still debloatng will see later if benchmarks and battery are improved or not

Samsung said that all S4 features that are not related to hardware will make it to S3 as well. I didn't see them even though it's been 10 months.

Yeah. Pretty happy with temaseks kk.
But if I'd have a money,no doubt I'd bought the Nexus 5.

Android 4.3 is very good and fast. I have stock without brand.
Free RAM is 370-420MB and after rebooting is even 460MB.
Everything works perfect, fast and without any lags etc.

oh god... not this stupid crap again.


If you have to ask this, you don't know crap about how Android manages memory and memory pressure events.

I'd much rather android and the apps it runs use LESS memory, than have it close an app that was suspended.

Well for instance

You open Youtube , Facebook and Internet

Use Facebook for 5 minutes
Switch back to youtube > youtube has to restart bcs android had to kill it due to low ram , after 10 mins of youtube
Switch back to Facebook , but facebook too has to reload because due to low ram android had to kill it
Now you switch to Internet and you have to Reload every page you had open because android killed it due to low ram.

In extreme situations ( very often ) when you have alot apps installed , you cant even brwose internet normaly :

you open 3 webpages in 3 tabs ,and when you try to switch from one tab to another it has to reload even that.

I hope you can understand what im trying to say.

With 2 GBs of ram all these issues are mostly gone, they are gone on 1GB AOSP Roms too, but even if not , apps load 2x faster .

Yes,it's very annoying,or for example when you're trying to open an webpage with a lot of images (like tumblr,the verge..) it's just crashes after a while due to low RAM,but it's weird that never had that issue on AOSP rom, only on the stock one.
