Hello guys,

It has been a while since ive posted a message on here so forgive me if im in the wrong section. Today I received my HTC Sensation. I have switched from an HTC One to an iPhone 5s, but I missed android so much (lol) that I bought a Sensation for a bargain. Now I want to root it so I can get a custom 4.4 rom on it. Does anyone know where I can find a clear manual for a noob like me? I dont want to **** things up. :p

Kind regards

If you do a search in the "search forum" field you get enough hits.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=root sensation
eg: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870233 or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631

I managed to get it rooted and S-Off with the first manual.

I see no big problem with this ROM.
Off course there are some minor issues, but nothing that keeps you from doing what you need to do.
This is also my primary device and the issues I have seen are no big deal.
* mute during call doesn't work (use the "place in wait" button for the same result)
* Notification bar sometimes seem to hang (it doesn't show when you it pull down and then it seems the phone doesn't react no more, but if you pull the notification bar up again) the phone still works)
* sometimes you need to push the on/off switch 2 or 3 times to get the screen on...
and some more small things, but that is the price you pay when you want to have something new. :D

The developers (eg. Android1234567) are very busy trying to get all the bugs out of the ROM and kernel.
It's getting better and better.
What is the place in wait button? I tried the hold button but you cant here other party.

Yes that is correct, the hold button, if you want to hear the other party and shut down the mic, that is not working (yet).
It is still an early ROM with bugs, adjustments are being made almost every week.
If you want to go for a stable version you need to swithc back to CM10.2.

Hey guys,
I had an experience with CM11 and sensation, that I think its good to share it with everyone.

I flashed "cm-11-20140115-Albinoman887-pyramid" on my HTC Sensation, and by first glance it was great. After a few hours of testing, I found that there are some problems:
  • Overheating! which is very scary.
  • Draining battery very fast, which is the reason of overheating. it took about one hour to drain my battery! while in normal situation, if I let led be turned-on, it will last for more than four hours.
  • Wifi was not working. Of course there was a trick to make it available by changing some SQLite values.
  • Sometimes it got too slow.
  • After installing Gapps, everything got messed up! Android keyboard was crashing all the time, and whenever I was asked for a google account, my phone would stay hanged.

Unlike many other people telling their problems with camera, my camera was working perfect!

Kitkat is very lovely btw <3

Yesterday I flashed the latest CM11 of Android1-7 AKA SultanXDA.
It was the CM11 with kernel 3.4.
Today a new ROM has been release with the old 3.0 kernel.

Can anyone tell me which is the best?
I hear a lot of people have problems with the 3.4 kernel, but my sensation starts as normal.
Should I use the 3.4 kernel that was in the release of jan. 26th or should I go back to the 3.0 kernel in the build of jan. 27th

Are you using Kitkat on Sensation? Its very dangerous to let that (overheating) happen.
Have you tested other ROMs? I haven't test other ROMs yet, May be this is only happening with CM11

I have to mention that CM11 is not officially supported for HTC Sensation yet: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Pyramid_Info
This device does not support the newest version of CyanogenMod. This may be due to hardware limitations or simply because development is not yet complete. The last version officially supported was based on the jellybean branch of Android/CyanogenMod.
