dude, we don't care about "official" one. that's why we bought android based phone instead of an apple device. atleast that's why for me. we are waiting news about unofficial oreo builds. yeah unofficial builds. not even official lineageos. soo yeah, any news?
That's just you. Most of us do care, dude. I bought a Samsung phone because I like the features of a Samsung phone (like Samsung Pay), the looks, and how the UI/UX looks and works. We all bought an Android phone for different reasons, so you shouldn't assume everyone bought an Android phone because of the reason why you got it. This world doesn't revolve around you bud.

Me personally, I love stock on any phone. And love it on Samsung phones. Samsung's new Samsung Experience has matured, and gotten a lot smoother and works a lot better. I like Samsung Experience itself over other skins by other manufacturers, Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Secure Folder, the looks, wireless charging, you name it... Right down to the sounds it makes. But I also know people like to buy an Android phone because maybe it has more features than an iPhone (like a SD Card slot), or like to throw ROMs and kernels on it, or the freedom to choose from any company and choose what fits you, and other reasons...

But there's plenty of sources saying the Galaxy S6 models and the Note5 is getting Android Oreo. Yeah it's not official and even if it is it may change, but if this is the Samsung I know who likes to get competitive (with especially Apple, I mean just watch the growing up commercial) then we're getting another year of updates. I wouldn't base it completely off what SamMobile has to say though. Pretty nice to see these headlines.
But hey, if we don't oh well... I assume most of us will upgrade by the time app support and etc are obsolete on this phone. Nougat works fine on here. Only an upgrade old.

My sources (along with the included pictures)...

https://wccftech.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-oreo/

I just hope it doesn't take so long.

soo? why are you here? first entry is saying "there is a guy who is trying to build oreo for our device" and you guys still discussion in this thread. okay bud, forget all of them. are you aware of that, you just wrote on the world's biggest CUSTOM android rom development site? you are on xda bud, it is not sammobile or other "lovely" forums. if you wanna complain about sammy's update, JUST GO TO SAMMY'S CUSTOMER SERVICES. but if you have a problem with your device -systematical or minor issues- , I'll be happy to help. of course we won't care about official updates cause it is freaking XDA! -but actually I'm excating about that because of Project Treble, -which is making things more easier for AOSP developers-, but not about little stupid samsung pay. cause I'm already using card emulator for that!

If we get official Oreo from Samsung it would remind me of the old days where customers petitioned Samsung to upgrade one of the early Galaxy phones to Froyo (yeah it was back in the day lol) but the point is that Samsung heard the outcry because customers complained. Sure enough they sent out Froyo to that phone. If we keep the pressure on Samsung and carriers to get together and push out updates I believe it'll work. Our voices will show these guys that we DO CARE about updates and that they can't just abandon two year old devices. Let's keep our voices going

Now the samsung reps say s6 will get oreo no late than February
He hasn't said S6 will get as he clearly states: "Samsung will definitely release an update on WHICH mobile phone WILL HAVE the OREO Android Software."

this means Oreo for all those already listed and confirmed to get it - sad but most likely true

In all fairness, Note 5 should get Oreo. If it doesn't then shame on Samsung. I'm still waiting on December patch and here January is almost over. I hold out very little hope for Oreo. If they DO put out Oreo I can't see us getting it until 2019 ?
