I hope this is true, 7.0 is buggy as hell, had it on my nexus 6p and had nothing but problems, it was resolved with 7.1.2 though. They sure took their sweet time with this. Don't think I ever had a phone go this long without a OS update for it.

How do you know? I have a v20 but still on the April security patch while others are on the October one. Kinda upset cause I really thought this would be the first lg to actually get an update. All of my lg phones for some reason ( g3, g4,v10,v20) have never gotten an update and we're stuck on the stock version.
If you download the lg bridge tools you can update the phone yourself.

yep, just read this:

https://www.phonearena.com/news/T-M...-Oreo-updates-several-LG-smartphones_id103029

Here are all the LG smartphones that T-Mobile recently confirmed it will update to Android 8.0 Oreo: LG G5, LG G6, LG V20, LG V30, and LG V30+. There has been much talk as to whether or not LG would offer an Android 8.0 Oreo update for the G5, but it looks like LG and T-Mobile have decided to continue to support the old flagship.

Well, it depends on the model I mean the T-Mobile (h918) has been getting pretty good updates. We get pretty consistent security updates and we are getting oreo.
They been pretty mediocre as a far as the updates I had the LG G3 and it received quicker updates than the V20 has, and the fact its gotten to the point where Samsung is updating quicker is pretty sad. I'm glad its finally getting Oreo though, only took them almost a year but hey.

On the H990ds , still rocking the 7.0 software. This will be my last LG phone. I had the G3 and it received lollipop and marshmallow so `I thought they do update phones. Now the v20 is still on its original software and for crying out loud even Samsung seem to have improved......

Dear elite fellow users of LG V20 H990DS, enclosed herewith please find below E-mail communication from LG Product Security Update Team regarding regular on time monthly security patches update & Oreo Upgrade for our LG V20 devices around the globe.

Dear Deepak Talwalker,,

This is a staff of LG Product Security Response Team(LG PSRT).
Next security patch will be included in Oreo update.
It means that your V20 H990DS will get the Oreo update soon.
Additionally, the Oreo update is scheduled at the end of May.
Thank you for your patience.

Regards,
PSRT

To above their E-mail again I replied back as follows:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for your E-mail. I feel dejected by the same. LG PSRT is either requested to prepone Oreo 8.1,x upgrade by end of March 18 or if possible instead of scheduling stale Oreo 8.1.x for a flagship like LG V20 H990DS may directly jump to Android ‘P’ as soon as it is released. Such huge time lag of 09 months from 21st Aug17 to end of May 18 for the Oreo upgrade is not at all appreciated for a flagship like LG V20 H990DS.
Meanwhile if soonest possible, please arrange for a quick Kernel update for LG V20 H990DS so that undue/undesired/ unsolicited battery drain will be arrested or reduced considerably thereby improving Battery Back up & Screen On Time for the world wide LG V20 devices. Also LG V20 H990DS users will get rid of possessing & carrying nasty power banks all the time & happily wait for Android ‘P’ if a quick proper Kernel update is released for their LG V20 device to improve battery back up & Screen On Time instead of Android Oreo 8.1.x for their LG V20 H990DS.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

Deepak Talwalker
