I would like android on lumia. I got it free trade with my old unuse 9 year old phone from Microsoft. Willing to trade with any working android 4g tmobile phone in great condition. Lumia 710 is brand new unboxed.

You guys can hate Android all you want, but there's absolutely no reason to NOT port Android if it's possible.
Yes, you can say it's **** and all that, but wouldn't it be nice with a few extra games? Wouldn't it be nice with more choice and options? No one would force you to use Android, even if it somehow got ported.

Don't misunderstand, I highly prefer WP7 over Android, but if I could have both on one device I would be a happy man.

Also, it seems like ICS is running decently on the N9 already, and that hardware is probably even worse (cortex a8 and sgx535 if I remember well). I'm kinda tempted to get a used one off ebay or something just to give it a shot :D

I'm really tempted to get an N9 as well. I just love that standby clock. Knowing that it has better hardware than my HD2, I'm sure it'll at least run just as well if not better with enough development.

We're neighbors! I'm a block away from Madison Park Beach. Love it over here.

Oh, the N9 standby clock is sexy. I hope that MSFT will get us a good standby clock. That would be happy, indeed.

You're both crazy, why didn't you just go Android? Strange people?
I don't know, maybe we like the challenge :)
More than Android I'd like to get Mozilla's Boot2Gecko, but first all the important stuff need to be sorted out. But I have to say that was my goal when I got the lumia in the first place...
Time will tell if it can be done or if it's not worth it though

If you want android badly why dont you buy one?FYI dont think it is possible as of now.
Because I already have a galaxy2, and a N900, and I like the form factor of the lumia and its faster than a N9. And I know its not possible yet, thats why we are working on it, and as I said, I like the challenge :)

Why the hell would you want freakin' Android to run on a WP like this?? You're crazy, that's clear ;)
Android only has negative sides, WP is refreshing and smooth. I don't see ANY reason why you would want Android to mess up this beatiful phone.

Okay, I'm an Android hater, that's clear, but let me point it out:
  • Android is a copy of iOS (it's just boring)
  • It lags all the way
  • You need a nuclear power plant to keep it running for 1 day
  • The user experience is not consistent on all devices (not even with the same OEM!!)
  • Updates? Yes, if you do it all yourself
  • Open? Oh, thank you for your openness Android, and the malware...

I can go on if you'd like, but I think it's clear why I don't see this as a good idea...
1) absolutely NOT. It looks completely different and is far less restricted.

2) what do you expect from a sandboxed Java-based OS on a linux-kernel? Compare Android to Harmattan to see how a real linux based OS can fly (or Bada for that matter).

3) And so do you with your single tasking single core Windows Phone or me with my multitasking single core Symbian device. Why? Because in the western world the largest part of electricity is produced by nuclear powerplants.

4) You have a point there. But UI consistency is also in another very crippled phone-OS from that fruity-company. So in that respect WP is actually a copy of iOS.

5) most o/t update problems are due to carriers not to Google corp. This is less troublesome on closed systems like iOS or WP or, as a matter of fact, even Symbian (though carriers still are a barrier though)

6) No you see it all wrong. First what is the definition of 'Open'? Open to the consumer or open to carriers/handsetmakers? Android is NOT open to consumers just as iOS, WP, Symbian, Bada or any other phone-OS is closed to end-users. All systems use different means to lock users out of tampering with devices (singing apps, jail, root etc...). The difference is that Android is open to carriers unlike iOS or WP or Symbian (for that matter). So they can add, change or modify (some) parts if they see fit. Don't let the propaganda fool you into thinking that Android is "open". Sure, some handset makers are removing the root-restrictions but this is to help app-developpers not for consumers to tamper with these devices (Read the included license agreements closely when you apply these official unrooting-procedures).

Cheers
