Huawei will release public Android Q for the Mate 20 series and P30 series on the same day as Google releases the final build of Android Q for Pixel devices in August:
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-p30-mate-20-pro-honor-view20-magic-2-android-q-emui

It's a huge improvement, considering last year EMUI 9 wasn't even in beta stage until mid-September. We might finally see significant UI changes from Huawei with this update too. Version number 10 is significant for EMUI and Apple is doing a visual overhaul for iOS 13 too.

interesting footnote: "Huawei has stopped providing official bootloader unlock codes for its devices. Therefore, the bootloader of their devices can’t be unlocked, which means that users cannot root or install custom ROMs.". hmmm, I just moved away from LG6 for that reason!

I can unlock the bootloader of my Mate 20 Pro by going to developer settings and simply turning on OEM unlock though, which would allow me to root and even install Resurrection Remix from openkirin.net. It's been possible on carrier unlocked international Mate 20's since December. XDA has to put that disclaimer at the end because this is a developer forum, and even then there's always comments complaining about it below the article.

You are wrong.
Oem-frp unlock and bootloader's lock are 2 differents locks.
Both would need to be unlocked for you to even install a custom rom.
Here is why the complain :D

It would work on some devices, but not on Mate 20 Pro (and most of Huawei phones), because Huawei applied password for command line unlock. The "OEM Unlock" slider allows to run bootloader unlock command, but this command is passworded with 16 whatever digit password and difficult to bypass (at least no known method) + 5 wrong attempts reboot the phone...

I didn't know that because I have no plans to actually root or install a custom ROM, thanks for the details. Every day we learn something new.

Loading provider settings after installing the Vodafone SIM card means your phone has carrier-customized Vodafone software/apps. The beta is universal to all people around Europe and can't include these carrier extras, so it simply won't allow you to join the beta to avoid incompatibilities. These carrier extras are often mandatory for managing your carrier plan.

Are you a Play Store developer with apps published in the Play Store? If not, it doesn't matter, you wouldn't get accepted for the beta anyway. I can apply for the beta project, but I won't get accepted because I'm not a developer. Maybe there will be an open Q beta in July after this developer beta project ends.

I remember when I got the Mate 10 Pro unlocked in the UK, when I put a Three sim in it the phone downloaded Three branded firmware................I got a HK Mate 20 Pro this time so it didn't happen
