android recovery holy crap

Its been an hour now, I still can't get in.. non rooted 4.2.1 WiFi Xoom

I power up wait a few seconds after moto splash, hit the down arrow, select android recovery hit up arrow, volume key I mean.

Then I get the robotic android with a red explanation mark.. then what?? Nothing happens.. I'm losing it lol

That's stock recovery, you need to flash a custom one, look in the development section for one
