I'm eager to upgrade myself.. I will restrain myself until it's a stable platform with a stock downgrade available as a reference before attempting to flash what can only be described as a Beta or Release Candidate version. If you're daring, or have a spare phone, by all means upgrade.

Running beta operating systems is risky any time you do it, even on your PC. The difference between this device and your PC is that the "OneNAND" (internal storage), is actually soldered and glued to the top of the processor... If something is wrong with the bootloader, or an error occurs during transfer you have to perform a detailed recovery process. Currently the only way we have to recover it involves surface-mount micro-sodering on a 16 pin header connection inside the phone which is small enough to fit inside the headphone jack... This is enough to sway me away from playing with 2.3.3 until it's ready.

We're working on ways to load a new IBL/PBL, Param.ifs, SBL and SBL2 from externalSD. If we can find a way to destroy the IBL, then we can do it easily. The day we figure out how to destroy the IBL partiton from the OneNAND using Hardware/IROM/PBL only, is the day we have free reign over development of this phone, and the day I will be running beta operating systems.

Hey guys, having a strange issue with my phone. Sometimes when I dial a number the speaker remains off/silent even though it looks like the call connects. The call timer starts but I can't hear anything. The calls actually do connect, because I've received calls back from these numbers (they say I was just silent then disconnected). Incoming calls are fine, and it only seems to do this to certain numbers.

This may simply be an AT&T issue or even an issue with the person receiving calls, but I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone else has had this issue. I'm on Andromeda3 / ursa minor #2.

I flashed Andromeda 3 2 days ago with Darkfire theme. I love this ROM and theme except for one problem. The coverage I get doesnt show 3G. It just has the bars. I can send text messages and phone fine, but when I try and email someone, or try and use GPS or the internet, I cant because it says I have no network coverage. Can anyone help?

This happened with me when I installed Andromeda 2 a couple months ago and was the reason I installed something else.

SIM card or network error

Guys,

I flashed Andromeda 3 on my Captivate successfully while following the instructions. I tried another custom ROM too before Andromeda. I am facing a problem after flashing any custom ROM. The phone is not detecting the sim card, It says No Service. If I try to access call settings I get error message, "SIM or Network Error". If I try to set up an APN it says Insert SIM card to access network services. There are no signal bars.
If I flash back to stock 2.1 using Odin, it works fine.

Please help me fix this. I tried searching on xda forums but looks like I am the only one facing this problem.

Those with reception issues...

Do not restore all data with titanium backup. Only restore missing Apps with data.

If that does not work, you can try a different modem.

If you're commingle from something crazy like cyanogenmod or miui, then you are likely missing your service provider settings. You will need to restore them.

A friend of mine installed a 3g monitor once which also changed his wireless provider settings.

Just installed

Ok trying to get this to work on captivate. I have 2.2 installed via I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears(1)

Rooted and installed exactly as the video link shows, but its stuck at the boot screen. It shows the Andromeda load animation then goes black and vibrates like its force closing something. Have tried 2 times to install. Any one have any ideas? Read through several pages and have found nothing yet. Thanks.

AdamOutler,
Thanks for the pointers but its not working.
I tried restoring missing Apps with data only. Also tried 2 different modems given on teamkomin site. That didn't work either.
When I flash it back to stock 2.1 using Odin one click, upgraded through Kies mini to froyo, there was same problem. No reception and phone says No service.
I have tried 2 different custom ROMS- Andromeda3, Cognition. Flashed many times without errors but the problem persists.
Baseband version is always Unknown other than when I am on stock 2.1.
When I try to select band with *#2263# there is a black screen, I can't do anything there.
When I try to check network lock with *#7465625# it throws a force close error (The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later.) with only one Force Close button.
Is it possible to use the old stock modem with Andromeda3? If yes, how can I install it? Same way by flashing the modem zip through recovery?
If you know another solution or want me to try something else, please let me know.

Thanks !!

It sounds like you've got a serious problem with your call processor or something. Both of those commands work fine for me.

Very Slow 3g Speed After Good Intall

Hi all,

After what was a very painless install everything seemed to be working fine until I fired up the market place, speed was so slow it never loaded.

Tried the web, and it took over 4 min to load google.com The entire time the little "H" was flashing in place of the "3" in "3g"

Is there something I need to do after an install to get cell data to work correctly. I am in North Dakota, and we just switch over to a brand new ATT network if that matters in some way.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Slow data speeds - no 'H', mostly just Edge

Having a strange issue here. I was not happy with performance of my phone and decided to reflash and after doing so I am getting slow data performance on ATT network. I never had this issue before and have done everything I can think of to shake it loose. In the house I never get better than Edge and outside I might get a 3G indicator, but never 'H'. The performance loading web pages and such reflect what the indicator shows. I even swapped SIM with my wifes Cappy to see if that may be the issue, but it stayed with the phone. Her phone is on Andomeda3, UM2, JK4 modem.

List of what I've tried:
Reflashed Andromeda3
ODIN to JF6
Reformated using CWN
ODIN to JF6 (again)
Reflashed Andromeda3 (again)
Applied UrsaMinor2
Applied JK4 modem (was main modem in the past)

All to no effect, got same results each time.

Any suggestion appreciated.

It somehow shook it self out yesterday and seems OK now. When I was testing my wifes phone worked as expected with the 'H' present. I have no idea what happened ... strange. Thanks for you reply.

I'm partial to the KC1 modem paired with this rom. I've used JK4,JL2,JL3 and my current KC1, out of the four the KC1 has given me the best recepetion and gps out of the bunch. I do however live on the west coast so I can't say for certain how it will work for those who live elsewhere in the USA. Just my 2cents on modems paired with A3.

Hmmm...you're not far from me. I might have to try KC1 and see how it fares for me. JK4 works OK, but I only get 1-2 bars inside my house. Would like to see 3-4 if possible. Thanks for the suggestion.

KC1 has the best reception IMO, full bars here. But it drains the battery abit.
