Hello all.
The fingerprint scanner on my Atrix 4g has always been hot when the phone is on. REALLY hot. Until this afternoon!

I think I figured out a solution. Well, sort of. It does disable the fingerprint scanner altogether. The solution? Disconnect it completely. Just pop the ribbon cable loose (pointed to in the attached image) and put the button back where it belongs.

Teardown info can be found on ifixit's website.

So far this has been working for me, though it's only been several hours. Before this "fix" my battery wouldn't last more than several hours. My guess is that it was because the fingerprint scanner was operating like a resistance heater. I'll keep this thread updated with battery life changes.

...this is common sense. Disconnect something, and that part of the device recieves no power which means no heat
