Exactly how much slower do you want to make something that actually works and doesn't need anything?
Recovery has never been an issue. The issue is being able to write something (anything) to it. If you can't write the recovery, you can't use it. If you can write the recovery, then that still doesn't matter because you don't need it.
I feel like the space is enough. The vlc for Android app can play back any format on another computer. One doesn't need to put everything onto Chromecast. What's the purpose of jamming things into chromecast? Just curiousGet a usb-C hub off Amazon and a USB flash drive. More space..
DVR for Paid IPTv and Video buffer and streaming/ the cache of said streaming app and overall performance is a reason for space. Just look at the total app data and cache utilized on Google TV app and gms over time. Casting to the device also uses space to load the stream on the device and playback so with Video resolution and audio format as high as it is now. An hour long Recording takes 2.3 gig of space and then the whole device begins crashing and lagging. So increased storage is a valid need for any user. Idk anyone who would agree space is not important. Just wait for the next forced update on it for example. Apps not Opening and unable to install new without loss of data is a nuisance all in its own.
I thought the recording for YouTube TV app is done on the server side, not at the app level. I don't cast anymore. I would just use the app to stream. If it's a video file, I would just use VLC to stream it from my computer that has more space. Thanks for the nuance.
YouTube isn't IPTv "live TV over IP" and any video you open does get saved to the cache until it's played then deleted so if the storage fills up the app crashes and doesn't have the space required to open the app over time app store more and more user data and updates also involuntary at times add to the space. So without a way to supplement people can run into issues where unknowingly they run out of space and force the need to reset the device losing data. IPTV like sling with DVR saves to the device even Netflix and Hulu downloads sace files to your device to play it offline. So it's a good idea to know how to increase space or to at least be aware that this could become a issue later on throughout the life of the device. Free space is a key for device performance. Let your phones space fill up to 95% and you will see how android starts to lag and crash. Same applies here
Another thing I hope rooting could achieve is to be able to delete/uninstall apps that I no longer want. These are apps not from Google Play store, which lacks shortcut, but from side loading APKs. Can we still uninstall without access to the system folder? It appears easy to uninstall such apps on a phone, say Pixel 7 Pro, but not so on the chromecast. For example, the Clash for Android app, the Aliyun Drive TV app, the 115 TV app. I can't seem to uninstall them by performing uninstall via the APK Mirror app. Thanks
Just realized TeamViewer Host app's application tab could initiate the uninstallation of such apk apps
The settings menu under applications shows all apps I've sideloaded. Also Xplore file manager app for the play store will launch and uninstall by going to app manager and delete the apk file if shows as the app. Clicking the app will launch it compared to long press the ok button and deleting it.
Thanks. The difficulty i had was with a particular app called Aliyun Drive TV app v2.1.260 at https://www.aliyundrive.com/s/pc5ubGRabyb/folder/63c11632eada3355899743d28dfb7671c6a28571. Can you please take a look? I will definitely try your approach next time. At this moment, I can't imagine I have to sideload anymore apps, unless I can really root the Chromecast. But even if I could root it, the only thing I could see helpful is the GPS Setter module via the LSPosed thingy to fool Movies Anywhere.
