Any way to get TowelRoot working again?

TowelRoot won't work on my note 3 with 4.4.2

It says to ensure it's connected to the internet. I can go to the website, download and install, but then get that message. Tried on 2 identical phones multiple times.

I think it may be related to https, but not sure.

Try different versions of Towelroot, different versions use different exploits. Also, Towelroot may not work on 4.4.2. Have you tried Kingroot or King-o-root?

TowelRoot used to work on 4.4.2, and there are multiple threads that list it in instructions. The only version I can find is the one on the TowelRoot site (maybe v3? Not sure). I've used Kingo, and it works, but can't install superSU and it's causing other issues trying to update and delete Knox.
